OBJECTIVE

SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE:

I was involved in design and development of client/server applications as well in multi-tier web applications. Expertise in Object oriented programming and worked extensively in Java, applications using Internet technologies like JavaScript, HTML, XML, OpenSearch, Servlets, and JSP, Oracle database as backend for the applications.

From May 2001 to till date:

Working as Scientist/Engineer ‘SF’ in National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC/ISRO), Dept. of Space, Govt. of India as a software developer for 6 years, as a Project Leader for about 4 years and as a Project Manager for 5+ years.

Responsibilities

Focal Point from NRSC to CEOS (Committee for Earth Observation Satellites) for facilitating the publishing of IRS Meta data on global platform through CWIC (CEOS Working Group for Information Systems and Services Integrated catalog(NASA)).

Project Manager for Browse Archival and Server System (BASS), User Order Processing System (UOPS), Web based Payload Programming Request Management Services (PPRMS).

Team Lead for Data Products Invoice Generation package for satellite data products dispatched by NRSC, IRS Pass Quick Look through Bhuvan, Online Earth Observation Services.

International Ground Station (FRANCE,GERMANY,ALGERIA,IRAN): Responsible for customization of Browse and Order Generation System,ADIF .

Core team member of Integrated Multi-mission User Order Processing System

Software which sends Mobile alerts for critical events of IMGEOS-UOPS to users to enable them to take appropriate action.

Major Software Packages delivered

Integrated Multi-mission User Order Processing System

(IMGEOS-UOPS)

This package uses Multi-mission approach to provide an integrated solution for users to browse through accession catalog, place order and request for future acquisitions if user’s AOI is not covered. It was developed is using RIA technology.

As a Project Manager of Resourcesat-2 (UOPS, BASS, PPRMS) analysed, designed and implemented the features like Spatial feature, Interfaces in XML format, Client-server communication, automation, Sensor-specific requirements towards realization of the objectives of IMGEOS

Held discussions with the end users and team members regarding the requirements and their analysis and implementation, defined schedule for project completion, assigning tasks and monitoring the progress, involved in T&Es, maintaining activity logs and software operationalization.

Involved in augmentation of existing packages to evolve into IMGEOS-UOPS thereby providing the extensibility for the older and future missions.

Browse Archival: catalogue of satellite imagery and meta data

Established archival automation for all in-orbit satellites data acquired by NRSC.

Implemented the spatial feature of Oracle for optimized retrieval of metadata.

Augmented the package to handle Cartosat-1 DEM accession data and its images.

Browse Search module: Single and multi-sensor metadata search

Designed and developed single and multi-sensor metadata search across multiple years considering quality and sensor specific parameters.

Implemented alternate scenes and corresponding OTS tagging each scene.

Implemented persistence of user selected information for retrieval later.

Shape file library Management: Developed a utility to manage shape files of states, cities, districts.

Current Status of IMGEOS-UOPS: Service available on NRSC website

SMS posting service

Designed and developed this SMS service to notify relevant users about critical events like non-receipt of pass schedule file, emergency request placed, insufficient funds for processing of order, which prompt the users to take necessary action.

Data Products Invoice Generation package

This package is used for generating invoices for the satellite data products supplied by NRSC. Designed and developed modules for handling

Types of invoices: Complete and partially complete UOPS Orders, Bulk orders, foreign satellite data orders, revised and duplicate invoices

User category based discount policies, priorities charges, currencies and conversion rates.

Custom currency convertor for fetching applicable conversion rate for each product based on the credit date of credit made by BIMSTEC-SAARC country users. This is used during order processing, cancellation and invoice generation.

Current Status: Operational as UOPS intranet service.

International Ground Stations

Browse and Order Generation System (BOGS) for Algeria

Analysed the requirements and augmented this to the ResourceSat-1 package.

Designed interface between this package and Data Product Generation Software.

Prepared installation kit, user manual, system manual and ATP manuals.

Current Status: Operational at Algeria ground station.

Web based Data Downlink request management

Redesigned Ground Station request placing services for multi mission approach.

Designed and developed automated standing request placing for ResourceSat-1 and OceanSat-2 for specific stations.

Current Status: operational as a service in IMGEOS-UOPS.

IRS Pass Quick Look through Bhuvan

This package provides quick look visualization of the IRS passes as a trace on map and a scrolling view of subsampled, location annotated data. Area of interest in the current pass can be earmarked as inputs for subsequent ordering through UOPS. Responsible for analysis, design and involved in the development of package.

Connecting the required scenes after removing the overlap in order to replicate the pass during scrolling and fetching the scenes corresponding to the selected locations for complete year.

Designed the interface with UOPS by saving the selected scene information and uploading the same in UOPS for order generation, eliminating selection process.

Current Status: Operationalized IRS Pass Quick Look as a service at Bhuvan.

.Current Projects

Publishing IRS data on global platform through CWIC(NASA)

CWIC (Committee for Earth Observation Satellites Working Group for Information Systems and Services Integrated catalog) project facilitates various world's satellite Earth Observation data providers to publish their data collections on a common platform as an integrated catalogue through common standard and usable by remote sensing data users. Responsible for implementing the interface through OpenSearch to publish IRS data on CWIC.

Online Earth Observation Services (EO services) through Bhuvan

This package provides demand based data and processing services for remote sensing applications using the data which is available in NRSC archives.

Analyzed requirements for GUI and workflow design between EO search, UOPS and product generation scheduler and generation of orders for information products, special products and status of ordered products.

Designed and developed XML based inter-work-center interface file format as it is platform independent and easily extensible.

Developed XML Parser and generated metadata search module to provide the results for the given AOI.

Publications and Paper Presentation

Co-Authored the paper titled “AN INNOVATIVE WEB APPLICATION FOR SATELLITE DATA ORDERING” .This paper is published in the international Journal of Advanced Computer Technology(IJACT) in the December 2014 Volume 3-Issue 6 .

Presented paper in JavaOne Conference 2013 titled “Satellite Data User Services: Role of JAVA“.

Documentation, Testing and Maintenance

Prepared T&E plans listing various types of test cases for Resourcesat-2 BASS, UOPS, PPRMS and invoice generation service to ensure efficient code coverage.

Involved in internal and external T&Es of UOPS for Resourcesat-2, RISAT-1, Data Products Invoice Generation Software and multi-mission UOPS, closed actions identified.

Provided Perfective maintenance to cater to the new requirements pertaining to data products invoice generation content and format.

Provided Operational Support for: Multi-mission IMGEOS-UOPS, Invoice Generation, BASS and Payload Programming request management services for Ground Stations.
