PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Data Scientist at Elsevier, Content and Innovation (2016) Philadelphia, PA, USA
Migrated the Elsevier Merged Medical Taxonomy (EMMeT) relational database to graph database using Neo4j, which in turn facilitated the modeling of complex medical relations that wasn’t possible with the relational model. In addition developed a front end natural language interface to query the graph.
Developed a set of methods to automate the process of question assessment for a nursing adaptive learning system.
Worked on automating the translation of medical concepts in the EMMeT taxonomy. Research Assistant, University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) The Center of Advanced Computer Studies (CACS)

“A Framework for Building Light Weight Ontologies based on Semi-Structured data for Semantic Annotation”
The goal is to semi-automate the generation of domain knowledge in the form of light weight ontologies. Lightweight ontologies are mainly for annotation purposes. We are also proposing a multi-layered ontology- based annotation standard for defining domain entities adopted from the Wikipedia structure. This research involved developing and algorithm extracting domain concepts and computing semantic relatedness between domain concepts. In addition to implementing a method for determining the number of clusters of the extracted domain concepts. An abstract is attached.
