Position: Operation Supervisor in Tout Lui Faut refinery Suriname (South America)

Responsibilities : I was involved in crude Vis breaker unit, Vacuum distillation unit, sour water treatment,sulphuric acid unit, and Amine treatment Unit during commissioning. During this we are doing the leak test, tightness tests, Dry out of the refractory,Sulfiding of the catalyst, Process loops air freeing, Reduction of catalyst, Execution of ESD logic checking in panel, startup of above mentioned units done. Startup & stabilizing the plant for successful test runs. Pre-commissioning, Commissioning, Startup, Operation and Trouble Shooting Units, Pre-commissioning activities like System Tightness Check, System Inerting, Fired Heaters refractory Dry Out, Dry Out of Reaction System, Catalyst Loading and catalyst dry out are being carried out, Commissioning activities like Rotating Equipment’s Reliability Checks were carried out . Compressors were commissioned, Startup, Trouble Shooting and Fine Tuning done for Vis Breaker & Vacuum distillation .

I started my career with this organization. It is the only oil refinery in Suriname. I started as an operator trainee with one year training. I was involved from the grass root foundation of the this refinery

I worked as a field operator, control room senior operator & shift in charge in VDU, Vis breaker plant. I was involved in all the startups, shut downs. I was involved minimum 5 annual shut downs & startup of the units apart from the frequent trip & normal startups of the units.

Expertise:

Oil/Gas/ Refinery process unit pre-commissioning, commissioning & normal operations, Handling of revamp projects, Process shutdown & start up activities.

Experience in operating following type operations:

Crude Vis-breaker

Tank farm

VDU Distillations, Stripping/Separator operation.

Steam Generation & water treatment.

Amine separation unit

Sulphur recovery unit

Responsibilities

Performing start-up & shutdowns activities & taking corrective action during emergency in line with emergency procedures.

In conjunction with Operation, plan & control activities whilst on shift to ensure safe & efficient plant operations.

Ensure appropriate data is collected and collates in support of product optimization.

Interface with other lead operators/Technicians on all the aspects of intrusive maintenance & safe isolation & reinstatement procedures.

Perform & direct safe isolation of equipments in preparation for & receipt from handover for intervention crew activities & reinstatement.

Assist with the planning, preparation & coordination of Shutdown programs, weekly planning & the implementation of safety procedures & practices.

Operate a safe system of work for the control of Over-rides & critical valves.

Deputy as Operation supervisor as required.

Be actively involved in the training & coaching of Technicians.

Create appropriate isolation lists & drawing as required, in conjunction with the operations supervisor and operations technicians.

Ensure all work including that of 3rd parties is carried out in accordance with company procedures and standards, e.g. Permit to work system etc.

Ensure compliance with statutory regulations & relevant Health, Safety & Environmental practice.

Undertake a variety of audits & monitoring functions to establish that safe & best practice is implemented & ensure good housekeeping.

Conduct & participate in Safety meeting.

Filling up of checklist as per safety procedures, safety audit checking.

Keep a shift log of daily production & equipment operating conditions.
