Data Integration Manager

Responsibilities:

ENKON is creating an integrated Land Titles System for the Government of Botswana called LIS (Land Information System). Currently, Botswana has many limited systems with many manual paper based processes. Rajeev is responsible for migrating all existing data from 7 different systems into LIS for the initial production release and is responsible for setting up integration interfaces with another 8 different systems when in production. Role has involved travelling to Africa and consulting with the highest levels of Officials in the Government of Botswana to gather and analyze requirements. The list of Officials consulted with include the Permanent Secretary of Botswana, Surveyor General of Botswana, Directors and other Departmental Heads, Technical Architects, Programmers, DBA’s, and Analysts. As the Integration Manager also responsible for database analysts, data modelling and providing Architectural direction and technical IT support. Have been hands on doing technical developer work to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:

Senior Pre-sales Consultant for Teradata’s DCM (Demand Chain Management) product. The DCM solution is designed to manage and improve inventory management and forecasting at the retail level. DCM is used by many fortune 500 companies across North America. Leadership role in customer presentations, RFP’s (request for proposal), demo’s, consultations, general sales support, complete Performance Benchmarking (Teradata, DCM, Linux, Front End, etc.), POCs (Proof of Concept - which included creating Teradata databases and installing DCM from scratch on internal and customer environments before starting POC ), and customer support.

The Boeing Company, Seattle, WA, 2005 - 2012

Physical Data Architect and Data Modeling Team Lead

Responsibilities:

Data Architect responsible for implementing Boeing’s Common Data Warehouse that has approximately 40 source systems using various technologies such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, etc. integrated into a single Teradata Data Warehouse. Work included temporal design and implementation, performance analysis, physical design, SQL optimization, DBQL reporting, Cognos BI Analysis, and mentoring junior team members. Architecture role also included but not limited to ownership of documents/specifications (P+/Macroscope), making final decisions on implementation decisions, ownership of schema promotion process from the Physical Data Model in Erwin, briefing management team on architectural direction and project development status, quarterly capacity forecasting (CPU and Disk), and assisting with and buying off on database upgrades.

Responsibilities:

Writing temporal SQL queries in Oracle on Areva’s Data Warehouse. Queries included the sale price of selling futures contracts on electrical power, the value of electrical power over given time periods, the amount of power available to sell from a given company, etc. Also assisted in SQL query optimization for poorly performing queries.

Client: Boeing (2000-2003)

Worked on Boeing’s BRIDGE and later BIDS projects. Both projects had use of PL-SQL, SQL, PRO-C, C, UNIX, Shell scripting, Perl, stored procedures, and triggers. Data Model was stored in Oracle Designer. Assigned to work on performance improvements for slow loading ETL code. Both projects had extensive use of code generators. BIDS had approximately 100K lines of code and the project was 97-98% generatable from Oracle Designer modeling tool with the push of a button. Many of the Documentation/Specs were also generated from Oracle Designer on BIDS.

Client: B.C. Ministry of Environment (1999-2000)

Led development effort from preliminary analysis to customer hand off of Oracle Forms application that tracked Environment Appeals sent to the ministry. Data Model was stored in Oracle Designer and initial dataset was loaded via Oracle SQL Loader. The contract was a six month fixed bid contract bid that was achieved successfully.

Client: B.C. Superannuation Commission (1997-2000)

Oracle Forms Developer on B.C. new public pension plan system called IPAS. Worked and or used Oracle Forms, PL/SQL, Reports, UNIX shell Scripts, Pro-C triggers, Penfax, etc. Was responsible for among other things the entire development of the purchase of service module of the system. Joined the project early and worked through system hand-off and the start of sustaining.

ETL work that loaded Ministries MS Access data into new Oracle database application. Data was loaded into Oracle via Oracle SQL Loader and PL-SQL, Stored Procedures, and triggers were also used.

Client: B.C. Ministry of Transportation (1996)

Brought in to fix PL-SQL, triggers, stored procedures, and Oracle Forms bugs and slow performance. Achieved ten-fold performance improvement plus corrected functionality.

Client: B.C. Ministry of Environment (1996)

Worked as PL-SQL and Oracle Forms and Reports Developer on the Ministries EMS (Environment Monitoring System).

Created the Account Information Database Systems for the Community Learning Network which allowed school children, education professionals, and others access to the Ministries intranet. Application was modeled in Oracle Designer, used an Oracle database, and the front end used stored procedures, PL-SQL and Oracle Forms and Reports. ETL was performed via UNIX, C, and Perl.

Client: B.C. Ministry of Finance (1992 and 1993)

Developer on Land Title application developed on MVS mainframe environment using REXX, TSO Panels, and JCL. Also began the switch over of this system to use DB2 on MVS.

•Imperial Oil (subsidiary of Exxon), Calgary Alberta (January – April 1992)

Assisted in development of Computer Graphics application that simulated 3D oil-extraction from reservoir on Silicon Graphics work stations using UNIX, shell scripts, C/C++, FORTRAN, and Basic. Simulation parameters besides time include Well/reservoir temperature, pressure, volume, etc.

•University of Victoria, Victoria B.C. (May – August 1991)

Created publishing application for the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Victoria. Users could query publications produced by particular faculty members, departments, etc. Other queries would allow publication queries on title, date, publisher, etc. Data was loaded once a month via UNIX batch job. Software was created in UNIX using C, shell scripts, Awk, and Perl

•Dow Chemicals, Edmonton Alberta (September – December 1990)

Assisted in the development of Chemical Plant Request Monitoring and Tracking system. Software was created using a 4GL called Smart Star on VAX/VMS environment. Custom modules were created in Pascal and Basic.
