Profile

Talented, results-driven and detail-oriented Process Engineer/Chemical Engineer/Research Associate having experience in process development and improvement, problem solving, QC/QA and R&D. Results and data driven with experience in manufacturing company. Looking for Entry-Level Process Engineer/Chemical Engineer/Research Associate/Associate Scientist positions.

.

Professional Experience

Research Associate

May 2016 to Current

Kellogg's Research Labs Hudson, NH

Develop Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and/or ultrasonic spray of graphene coating onto SMA rod surface to enhance the efficiency of an innovative generator by increasing heat transfer rate between air and SMA rod.

Perform tests for material properties (transition temperature, crystallinity etc.) using DSC, SEM/TEM, UTM etc.

Retrofit and build experiment device to enhance equipment performance/cut down R&D cost. E.g. retrofit heating furnace to increase heating efficiency and reduce heating loss, retrofit and rebuild CVD prototype model to perform CVD process for SMA rods.

Process Engineer

April 2015 to April 2016

Crown Poly, Inc. Huntington Park, CA

Formulation development - researched and developed new formulation for 5mic blown film extrusion produce bag with 25% dart impact resistance improvement.

Process improvement - researched and tested new screens for extruders with different design and mesh size, successfully reduced frequency of bubble break by more than 30%.

Production enhancement - increased production rate of produce bag lines by 5-10% by trouble-shooting extruder and downstream equipment issues.

Trouble-shooting - eliminated machine defects through retrofitting machine modules. E.g. retrofitting bearing and coating of bubble cage roller to reduce frequency of bubble break.

QA/QC - reduced frequency of quality disposition issues in Co-Extrusion lines by 50% (especially disposition issue caused by gauge variation/film wrinkles).

R&D - developed new product from scratch: 6mic/7.25mic fresh-keeping produce bag (reducing ethylene gas content, OTR and VWTR of film).

Experiment and test - performed in-house validation tests and film properties tests for the effectiveness of new products.

Directed daily operations including process analysis, research, safety enforcement, inventory control, and quality assurance to ensure optimal operating efficiency.

Oversaw quality assurance initiatives to design and implement products and processes for ongoing projects.

Research Associate

July 2014 to October 2014

VasoTech, Inc. Massachusetts Life Sciences Center Worcester, MA

Executed process design and process optimization of drug coating of Sirolimus-PLA (poly lactic acid) acetone solution onto biodegradable PLA stents.

Performed balloon catheter manufacturing improvement used for coronary artery bypass grafting surgeries, including catheter component design, medical tubing extrusion and balloon catheter assembly.

Participated in R&D tasks in biodegradable drug-eluting stent, including drug spraying onto biodegradable stent and stent grip.

Lab Assistant

February 2014 to July 2014

UMass Lowell Nanotechnology Lab Lowell, MA

Synthesized metal nanostructures (nanowires and nanoparticles) for electrode surface coating to improve the performance of sensors in chemical composition analysis.

Performed surface coating of PC/AAO membrane with silver by thermal evaporation method.

Education and Training

Master of Science: Chemical Engineering, December 2014

University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML) Lowell, MA

Chemical Engineering GPA: 3.55/4.0

Related Courses: Chemical Process Design, Math Methods for Engineers, Advanced Transport Phenomena, Advanced Thermodynamics, Biochemistry, Self-Assembly and Nanotechnology, Material Science and Technology, Nano Characterization by SEM TEM AFM.

Professional Development

Organizational Communication class, UCLA-extension, 2016.

Certificate of Blown Film Extrusion, Rauwendaal Extrusion Engineering, 2015.

Certificate of Extruder Maintenance, Rauwendaal Extrusion Engineering, 2015.
