Re: Research Scientist / Project Management

Dear Sirs/ Madame:

Currently I am pursuing an exciting and rewarding career in which I can utilize my education and skills to their full potential. I have earned a Master’s of Science in Molecular Biotechnology from Wayne State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan in Dearborn. Currently I am enrolled at the Mike Illitch School of Business and am pursuing an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Information Systems. My Master’s in Biotechnology project involved investigation into the mechanisms underlying axon growth and guidance during embryonic development using Drosophila melanogaster as the model organism. This project required a variety of molecular biology techniques including cloning, genetics recombination, and fluorescent microscopy. As an undergrad I conducted an experiment in gas- phase reaction kinetics using the refrigerant compound pentafluoropropylene. In this experiment I was responsible for all trials, sample collection and data compilation that was subsequently used in a publication in the Journal of Physical Chemistry, listing me as the sole co-author. I have many years of experience as an estimator and project coordinator for an architectural products manufacturing company. I also have many years experience as a small business owner. I have served as the company representative, have experience in researching bid opportunities, preparing estimates, proposals, in contract negotiation and project management. I have managed projects in the range of a few thousand to several hundred thousand dollars. As an estimator I routinely had gross sales of well over one million per year for many consecutive years. I have advised on and collaborated with others in constructing large bids, and worked with others in managing projects worth several million. I have exceptional communication and organizational skills that coupled with my management experience and extensive education allow me to contribute to the company and make an almost immediate positive impact on current and future projects. Sincerely Yours,

David Pierce
