Abilities and Major Accomplishments
Performance Reviews from my years at the American Red Cross will show that I have a high level of tech- nical expertise. I am able to troubleshoot and solve problems that their Region hadn’t faced before. Many of my solu- tions were ‘outside of the box’ and a lot of these ended up being implemented in other American Red Cross Regions. Teaching other IT team members and coworkers things that I have learned and picked up is something that I really enjoy. One of my former managers stated in a job review that I have the ability to communicate with users on what- ever level of computer knowledge they have. During my time at the Red Cross I was often contacted by other Re- gions and Divisions for help with problems they had with software or systems that I worked with and maintained in while in St. Paul.
While at the US Chess Federation I wore many hats. I maintained their web presence, administered their network, provided help desk leadership for both internal and external customers. I managed the network infrastruc- ture complete overhaul project with virtually no down time. I also took the lead on a cross-departmental project that replaced an arcane system that had many redundant loops with a system based on internally written code [PHP] that changed a 60-70 hour’ crunch-time’ week into a leisurely fourteen hours. Key Skills
• Troubleshooting: I have a high level of technical ability across a diverse collection of software and hardware that has allowed me to find the causes of and solutions to problems in a short amount of time. This also helps me to find solutions that are not obvious and straightforward.
• Technical Expertise: Over the years I have strived to stay ahead of the curve with new technology and software. Past job reviews at the American Red Cross all mention my technical strength. I am currently working on getting my MSCE certification in the summer and the CCNA certification in late fall.
• Commitment: I view my tenure with any company as the beginning of what will hopefully be a long relationship. I am not looking for a position simply as a stepping stone to another. As such the decisions that I make and the sys- tems that I implement will be geared towards moving the company forward to a position where I will still be there for the next leap forward.
