Distribution Center Allocation Based on Ant Colony Optimization 09/2015-12/2015 Goal: Find the solution with the minimum total cost (construction + transportation cost) and make sure each distribution site is served by only one distribution center.

• Researched and compared recent distribution allocation methods (network, greedy, etc.).

• Modeled facility allocation system based on the ant colony algorithm and cluster algorithm, then coded a model in Matlab which can automatically output the lowest cost solution. Production Planning and Improvement for Natconn Electronic Co. 03/2013-06/2013 Goal: Optimize the operation situation by improving ordering plan and production scheduling rule.

• Analyzed the performance of their production plan, compared with other 4 rules (FCFS, SPT, EDD, CR), improved the production scheduling by using the Earliest Deadline rule.

• Forecasted demands by using exponential smoothing method, made MRP for 5 kinds of raw material according to BOM

• Found the optimal operation solution for order quantity and order time. Saved 56% cost of inventory in the end.

Facilities Layout Planning, Simulation and Optimization in VisFactory 03/2014-06/2014 Goal: Find the optimal layout solution within the factory, monitor and improve the workflow.

• Analyzed closeness ratios between facilities, applied FactoryPLAN (AutoCAD package) to choose the location for each facility based on the System Layout and Planning theory.

• Built a model in FlexSim, monitored and analyzed the simulation results.

• Optimized in FactoryOPT, got the design with the minimum cost. Helped reduce inefficiency between facilities.
