Moving graphical elements around, he/she can create beats and save them as presets for later or combine with another user. Particle Player leverages low level frameworks to do real-time audio processing as efficiently as possible at low battery. The user interface is built with Cocoa Touch / UI-Kit. First accepted into the store in summer of 2015 and has been well received. I plan on releasing a V2 in spring of 2016 and greatly expanding the feature-set. This project creates a simulation of “cells” that move through a 2d grid based on rules and constraints. My aim in simulating this on the iOS platform is to merge music and sound to create a dynamic self-evolving sonic experience that will be interesting to watch. Although already in initial development, I expect to release a finished version in spring-summer 2016 and will post about it on my website.

This project is my foray into the world of OS X development and audio processing. I used the Cocoa framework and Core Audio to create a waveform viewer for desktops. Simply launch this from your dock and you have a highly efficient colorful spectrum of the audio coming into your mic. After adding a few features such as frequency analysis, I plan to release this in the Mac App store. My second major project involves Audio Unit’s which are a plugin architecture for creating virtual instruments and effects. Creating processing effects within the context of Core Audio is notoriously one of the more challenging areas of development in the apple eco-system. This app allows users to create new electronic sounds by using gestures and interacting directly with the synth parameters as opposed to traditional knobs and sliders.
