MANAGED the effective Project Development and Construction for power plant projects up to $750M. These were both International and domestic projects which were completed to specifications, on schedule, and within budget. Plants included combined cycle, simple cycle, diesel, wind and coal projects.

STAFFED and managed the construction and directed the operations of a $60M process/biodiesel facility at 90M gallons per year output that exceeded the sales commitments all within the quality specifications.

PILOTED a 36 MW power plant in Mauritania, North Africa as Project Director for EPC construction through commissioning, operations, and warranty period.

oEPC Project Director and additionally performed as Technical Manager and Administrative Manager to complete the successful construction; engineer and solve technical issues; coordinate, schedule and implement the necessary upgrades and finally turnover the operational facility to the client.

oFunctioned as the Operations, Maintenance, and Warranty Engineer for all plant operations during the transitional period and piloted the performance testing all necessary modifications and upgrades.

oDirected technical due diligence of the acquisition of 63MW Amayo Wind Farm in Nicaragua and then directed the operations and issue resolution leading the root cause analysis for kiosk transformer failure, generator replacements, and a lightning strike to one wind turbine and numerous cable connector failures.

oProvided the technology evaluation and site due diligence for the Power Development Team on three potential wind farm projects in Chile, Argentina, and China and developed the technical proposals including manufacturer selections.

oLed the investigation of technical issues at a combined cycle gas turbine plant in Pakistan to resolve compressor surging issues and facilitated and performed the root cause analyses that solved the issues together with selected balance of plant improvement projects.

oInvestigated a steam turbine failure at a diesel plant in Jamaica. Collaborated with the plant insurance company and steam turbine manufacturer to optimize the parts manufacturing process to minimize business interruption and property damage claims saving three months on parts delivery and more than $1M in lost business and $500K in machinery breakdown expenses.

oIssued technical proposals and led negotiations on Long-Term Service Agreements with OEMs and non-OEMs on two combined cycle gas turbine projects, visited repair facilities, and selected the best overall economic service packages valued at $50M and $60M respectively.

oChampioned the 3rd party independent analysis of 3rd stage blade failures on a GE 7EA gas turbine and presented the findings to management. Managed the refurbishment of its compressor at a repair facility in Houston and implemented the latest upgrades.

GREEN EARTH FUELS, LLC; Houston, TX 2007 – 2009

Director of Operations, Biodiesel Facility

oEstablished the operating company, hired the operating staff and was Owner’s Project Manager during plant construction in two phases of a 90M gallon/year biodiesel facility valued at $60M; completed on schedule and within budget and developed monthly operating reports for the stakeholders and was the Plant Manager and Director of Operations for the facility.

oDirected the pilot testing and then prioritized the design changes necessary to meet the new biodiesel cold flow specifications deadline which was also accomplished ahead of schedule and within budget.

oOptimized the temperature of the reaction and reduced the catalyst usage by 30% and decreased the production costs by 5¢ per gallon to increase profitability and modified the retreat system reducing losses by 3%.

oSuccessfully provided technical due diligence for the evaluation of three fossil power plants in Texas for Nu Coastal; authored technical evaluation report for the Commercial Team; recommended their purchase at 15% less than presented value.

oEvaluated the feasibility to move a 4 unit simple cycle GE 6 power plant from Mississippi to Texas for Suez Energy Generation including physical inspection of all equipment, borescope inspection, and completed a schedule, budgetary estimate, and technical reports to commercial management.

oManaged the successful repowering and start-up of a coal-fired boiler in the Dominican Republic that was converted from a heavy fuel, oil-fired boiler.

oInvestigated a Siemens gas turbine 84.3A annular combustor failure which ultimately resulted in additional cooling requirements for the combustor and coordinated the design improvements and repairs to the gas turbines.

oChampioned Best Practice Guidelines for standardizing the qualification and training of roughly 350 Power Plant Operators which was successfully implemented for three diesel plants in Central America.

oAt stakeholders’ request, investigated and resolved GT 11 hot gas casing failures in Peru and improved reliability to 98% and successfully renegotiated the maintenance agreements saving 30%.

oLead Technical Due Diligence Teams and presented recommendations and action items during asset acquisitions and reviewed the actual return-on-investment for acquisitions as contained in the pro-forma financial presentations.

oSupported and prepared technical evaluation of assets during the divestiture of assets and attended divestiture presentations to potential new Owners.
