Principal areas of accountability and / or mains tasks:
To oversee the Safe Production execution by the contractor on all production shifts at Impala 17
Shaft. This is applicable to the Main and Vent Shafts as well as Construction Section.
Observe the effectiveness pre shift activities and Compliance as per Mine requirements.
Partake and observe compliance of entry examinations and recording thereof in safe declaration book.
Follow up whether Risk Assessments and Procedures for the work to be carried out on a shift are available, understood and complied with by relevant persons.
Follow up on JSA’s for work to be performed and Accuracy thereof.
Observe the effectiveness of mid shift meetings.
Do check measurements and check accuracy of Foreman plotting’s.
Measure cycle times of production cycle activities, identify short comings and identify ways to improve.
Be familiar with the monthly planning for each shaft and the construction.
Test the crew’s knowledge as to the pre planning targets and objectives.
Be actively involved in the implantation of mechanized equipment for production cycle.
Primary goals, objectives and performance measures:
Ensure compliance of work performed is according to relevant Risk Assessments and Procedures.
Conduct regular audits on equipment available and if it is in a safe operating condition. Check equipment available versus the contractual equipment requirements and identify shortcoming.
Compare the actual labour underground to the compliment and identify shortcomings.
Inspect adherence to safe mining practices.
Over inspect operator check lists, BBS reports and Snake reports.
Complete a report at the end of each shift. Communicate to Mining Supervisors regularly.
Follow a Zero tolerance way of work – if something is wrong then Stop and Fix.
Observe the following at the batch plant when concrete or wetcrete is batched:
The actual mix of concrete/wetcrete compared to the required mix design.
That the batch plant checklist is followed, filled in and signed off.
The discharge of the wetcrete into the long drop kibble on the sub bank.
The making of test cubes.
Observe whether the application of wetcrete underground is done to standard with the necessary probe tests being done. Observe the spraying of wetcrete panels as per standard.
