Moon, Pa
Dear Sir,
I hope this letter finds you well. With more than 30 years of experience in facilities management, maintenance administration, engineering and construction, I strongly believe I would be an excellent fit in the opening for a Building Engineer and I hope that you will take me into consideration for the position.
As the Director of Facilities at Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, West Virginia, I manage a physical plant department of more than a dozen employees, including mechanics and electricians, and a housekeeping department of more than 25 staff members responsible for on-campus interior cleaning. Since I began working at the university in 2012, I have overseen all construction projects and repairs to the buildings and grounds. Previously, I had served for more than 20 years in the same position at Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania. At Thiel, I established a preventive maintenance program for all building equipment and also coordinated all projects performed by outside contractors on campus, serving as the campus construction manager and liaison between architects and engineering firms while overseeing more than $30 million worth of construction, improvements and renovations since 1991. In addition, I also oversaw all food service equipment operations on campus and worked directly with the special events office on all campus activities, which ranged from inaugurations and graduation to athletic events, concerts and much, much more.
Previously, I also served in several engineering positions and earned a great deal of experience in working with buildings and grounds maintenance by having worked in housekeeping and maintenance departments at hospitals, educational facilities and in other industries. I am a graduate of Youngstown State University, where I earned a bachelor of science in Mechanical Engineering. I am also active in my community, where I currently serve on the Sharon City Council and over the years have been a volunteer in many different organizations like local youth sports and countless others.
With my strong background in different roles, I believe I can be of great benefit in the position available and I am confident that, not only would I be an excellent fit in the role, but that I would exceed your expectations from every standpoint. Enclosed, I have attached my resume which highlights my professional experience and much more, along with a list of professional references. Should you need any further materials, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your time and consideration and I look forward to discussing the opening with you soon.
Respectfully,
Frank P. Connelly
