Work Summary

The purpose of this work is to convert the existing signup process to a true double opt-in system and synchronize contact lists between AlphaProfit’s WordPress site and SendGrid account. Only validated email addresses should be included in AlphaProfit’s SendGrid account for sending transactional and marketing mails. Service provider will test system before handover to ensure it is working without issues.

AlphaProfit Business

AlphaProfit publishes two investment newsletters:

1. MoneyMatters Newsletter offered free of charge to Registered Users 2. Premium Service Newsletter provided to Premium Service subscribers for a fee AlphaProfit’s primary business goal is to sell Premium Service subscriptions. AlphaProfit Website

The objectives of AlphaProfit’s website are:

1. Acquire leads

2. Market the fee-based subscription service to acquired leads 3. Distribute content to free and Premium Service subscribers AlphaProfit is working on upgrading its current website www.alphaprofit.com. A WordPress-based membership website is under development at sub-domain http://demo.alphaprofit.com.

The WordPress website is hosted at GoDaddy.com (cPanel Linux shared hosting plan). This website will replace the current www.alphaprofit.com after development is complete.

AlphaProfit Website Features

Subscription payments are collected using PayPal Payments Pro. All emails from the WordPress site as well as emails triggered by cron jobs are sent via SendGrid. SendGrid’s WordPress plugin version 1.8.2 is installed. (NOTE: SendGrid’s WordPress plugin version 1.9.5 includes a Subscription Widget. The WordPress website currently uses Paid Memberships Pro membership plugin

(version 1.8.4.4), Paid Memberships Pro add-on Register Helper, and Theme My Login plugin in the signup process.

The Paid Memberships Pro plugin is in the process of being customized for use. The following membership levels are created:

Level 1: MoneyMatters Newsletter subscription

This membership level is for Registered Users who receive the MoneyMatters publication free of charge.

Levels 2 to 6: Different types of Premium Service subscriptions These membership levels are for Premium Service subscribers.

Level 101: Former Premium Service subscriptions

This membership level is for Premium Service subscribers who do not renew.

Level 1001: Unconfirmed Users

If required, this membership level may be used for Users before confirming email address.

Information on privileges for different membership levels is provided in pages 12 and 13 of the Flow-charts.pdf attachment.

AlphaProfit’s SendGrid Account

There are three categories of contacts in AlphaProfit’s SendGrid account. They are Registered Users, Current Premium Subscribers, and Former Premium Subscribers. The three categories of contacts map to the different membership levels in Paid Memberships Pro as follows:

Level 1: MoneyMatters Newsletter subscription = Registered Users

Levels 2 to 6: Different types of Premium Service subscriptions = Current Premium Subscribers

Level 101: Former Premium Service subscriptions = Former Premium Subscribers. Data in Level 1001 or Unconfirmed Users are not transferred to SendGrid. When user provides ‘First Name’ and ‘Email Address’ and clicks the Signup button at http://demo.alphaprofit.com, user’s email address is included in both WordPress’ User List and Paid Membership Pro’s Member List. The user’s email address is included in the MoneyMatters Newsletter subscription membership level or Level 1. The contents in PMPro template ‘Checkout – Free’ are emailed to user via SendGrid. This email includes a link to activate the user’s AlphaProfit account. When the user clicks on the above Account Activation Link in email, user is directed to http://demo.alphaprofit.com/your-profile/ to setup the Password. When user provides the Password and clicks on the Submit button in http://demo.alphaprofit.com/your-profile/, the user is directed to http://demo.alphaprofit.com/membership-account/.

The User’s membership level stays at Level 1 or MoneyMatters Newsletter subscription (i.e., free or registered user).

In sum, the current signup process allows the user to validate the email address. However, the user’s email address is included in WordPress’ User List and Paid Membership Pro’s Member List BEFORE the user validates the email address. For the signup process to be double opt-in, the user’s email address and first name should be included in Paid Membership Pro’s Member List ONLY AFTER the user validates the email address.

New Double Opt-In Signup System

A conceptual process flow for the new signup system is shown on Page 2 of the Flow- charts.pdf attachment.

When user provides ‘First Name’ and ‘Email Address’ and clicks the Signup button, user’s email address can be placed in an ‘Unconfirmed User’ status, i.e., Level 1001. Email addresses in this status would not receive any routine marketing or transactional emails from AlphaProfit.

A Link is emailed to the User to enable the User to confirm the validity of the email address.

When the user clicks on the Account Activation Link in the above mail, the user is directed to http://demo.alphaprofit.com/your-profile/ to setup the Password. When user provides the Password and clicks on the Submit button in http://demo.alphaprofit.com/your-profile/, the following changes should happen:

User’s email address is included in both WordPress’ User List and Paid Membership Pro’s Member List.

User’s membership level changes to MoneyMatters Newsletter subscription or Level 1 (i.e., free or registered user).

User’s free membership account is active.

User is directed to http://demo.alphaprofit.com/my-newsletter/. Users in Level 1 should receive emails sent by cron jobs. To allow AlphaProfit to send marketing mails to Users, email addresses in Level 1, Levels 2 through 6, and Level 101 need to be automatically added to corresponding user lists in SendGrid.

Synchronization between Paid Memberships Pro and SendGrid Member List in Paid Memberships Pro and Contact List in SendGrid need to be synchronized by accounting for the following business processes: 1. New sign ups,

2. Purchases of Premium Service subscriptions,

3. Renewals of Premium Service subscriptions,

4. Downgrades of Current Premium Service subscriptions to Former Premium Service Subscriptions, and

5. Removal of email addresses that bounce or unsubscribe (in each of the three SendGrid contact categories)

When Registered Users, Former Premium Subscribers, and Current Premium Subscribers login, they should land on http://demo.alphaprofit.com/my-newsletter/.

Deliverables

1. Deliver a functioning double opt-in sign up system that works with the existing Paid Memberships Pro and SendGrid infrastructure in http://demo.alphaprofit.com. System must meet the functional requirements described in pages 2 through 10 of the Flow-charts.pdf attachment.

2. Synchronize contact lists between AlphaProfit’s WordPress site and SendGrid account.

3. Share only confirmed email address between AlphaProfit WordPress site and SendGrid account to allow marketing and transactional email to be sent from SendGrid.

4. Direct User to http://demo.alphaprofit.com/my-newsletter/ at the completion of the signup process and include user in Level 1 or MoneyMatters Newsletter subscription.

5. User experience on login should be consistent with the ‘Login Features’ section of this document.

6. Retain Unconfirmed email addresses in Level 1001 for analytics purposes. Requirements

1. Service provider should take care to maintain all functionality not referenced in this work. These include password retrieval, password reset, and dispatch & delivery of emails via SendGrid. If any of the currently functional elements of demo.alphaprofit.com or SendGrid become dysfunctional from work performed for this order, the service provider should restore these functionalities before handover. 2. Service provider must use Paid Membership Pro signup forms currently used at http://demo.alphaprofit.com. Service provider must NOT switch to WordPress default registration for signup.

3. To help with future code customization, service provider should identify start & end points of code changes using appropriate HTML & PHP comment tags. Scope

1. Service provider is not required to develop or provide the layout or contents for two versions of http://demo.alphaprofit.com/my-newsletter/ shown on pages 9 and 10 of attachment.

2. Further customization of Paid Memberships Pro is required before http://demo.alphaproft.com can go live. Such customization steps are not included in the current work order. They would be handled in subsequent orders.
