Logistics Readiness Officer/ Rank: MAJOR

1994 - 2016 U.S. Air Force, N.C. Air National Guard Charlotte, NC

Director of Operations (2nd in Command) 2014-2016 until retirement. Responsible for all operations of the squadron to include but not limited to 170 personnel in 8 different operational functions to include Vehicle Maintenance, Vehicle Operations, Base Fuels, Logistics Plans, Supply, Traffic Management Office, Logistics Readiness Office, and the Small Air Terminal. Was also responsible for supporting MAFFS aerial firefighting systems in cooperation with the U.S. Forestry Services. Officer in Charge of 145 Logistics Readiness Squadron Vehicle Management from August 2009 to 2013, responsible for the proper training, safety, and deployment readiness of 20 personnel and 250 government vehicles and 90 other government vehicle components. 2011 - Present Griffin Brothers Companies Cornelius, NC

Supervise and direct all activities of the Company’s Human Resource Department, to include, but not limited to, recruiting, payroll, employee relations, benefits, and compensation while serving 250+ employees from 10 Retail Tire and Auto Repair centers, 6 Construction & Demolition Debris Recycling centers and landfills, Property Development and Finance Group, and Pine Island Country Club. Provide H.R. and leadership training and guidance to front line management in order to better manage and develop employees, maximize talent, maintain safe work environments, and reduce costs associated human capital turnover, safety incidents, and low morale.

Implemented HRIS through Microsoft’s General Dynamic’s software and Greenshades software to more efficiently process payroll and allow for electronic pay stubs through an app for mobile phones as well as online access. 100% direct deposit program. Reduced payroll processing by over 625 hours per year.

Human Resources Manager / Acting Plant Manager

2005 – 2011 Berry Plastics-Specialty Films Division Charlotte, NC

Supervise and direct all activities of the Human Resource Department, to include, but not limited to, staffing, payroll, employee relations, benefits, and compensation while serving 13 salaried and 95 hourly employees in a 24 hour 7 day a week operation.

Coordinated all activities that pertained to growing the quality management system. Provided training in all areas to support, contribute to continuous growth and provide improvements to the quality system.

Ensure safe working environment for all employees through behavior based safety training and starting an employee based safety committee that has resulted in over 400 days without an OSHA recordable and 2,300 days without a loss-time incident.

Provide assistance and guidance to managers at multiple sites to include acting as interim H. R. Manager for the company’s three largest plants in Victoria, TX serving 487 employees for 6 weeks and Battleboro, NC serving 502 employees for 2 weeks, and Aurora, Il, serving 320 employees for 2 weeks as wall as hiring a new H.R. Manager for the facility. Also assisted the organization by covering vacant H.R. Manager’s responsibilities for the Lakeville, MN Plant for 16 weeks, Elizabeth, NJ Plant for 8 weeks, and the Pryor, OK Plant for 6 weeks. All of these were in addition to maintaining my Charlotte, NC plant’s responsibilities.

Provide leadership in the company’s efforts to include taking an initiative to cut costs by operating using LEAN manufacturing techniques as well as training the supervisory staff with “Leading from the Front,” leadership training, to better utilize employees using teamwork and best practices to increase production and reduce waste.

Managed warehouse reorganization increasing warehouse inventory and logistics efficiency 25% as well as managed installation of a total security upgrade to the facility, saving over $35,000 annually in security costs.

Provide leadership in the company’s efforts to identify, recruit and develop high potential supervisory and management personnel as well as advise and direct employment and termination issues.

Enhance the effectiveness of maximizing the human factor in the operation of utilizing modern, progressive approaches to managing. Helped reduce costs to the facility by over $200,000 annually by decreasing the turnover rate from 180% in 2006 to 15% in 2009 and 0% up to May 2010 with the closing of the plant, streamlining employee training via Computer Based Training and a training database, increasing production efficiencies by putting computer terminals at each section.

After announcement of Plant closure in March 2010, was named acting Plant Manager of Charlotte, NC and later in August 2010 for Lakeville MN to oversee the transfers of 26 personnel and 6 mono-layer and 3 triple-layer extrusion lines to other Berry Plastic plants.

Managed shut down of Charlotte, NC and Lakeville, MN facilities to include, but not limited to the transfer, storage, and disposal of all plant assets, preparation of the building for vacancy and the layoff of 145 employees without incident.

Production Scheduler/Inventory Analyst

January 17, 2011, after successfully managing the closing of two plants to include the reduction in force and removal of company equipment; pursued opportunity in another division in order to continue growth and future opportunities.

Responsible for balancing all production; inventory levels, assisting scheduling of production, and training of employees in inventory accuracy and reduction.

Effective June 2011 added Production Scheduling responsibilities after previous Production Scheduler left assignment. I picked up these responsibilities in addition to Inventory Analyst instead of the plant hiring additional headcount, thereby reducing costs and streamlining efficiencies.
