Personal statement

At the moment I am involve in a group who handles PCB design for TTI & Solar Wide Ind. Ltd.. Our product is a mixture of power tools, power supplies, consumer products & some as described below. I also draft procedures & guidelines based on Industry standard; I also maintain our project database, libraries & footprints and give tutorials on how to use Altium Designer to new & existing colleagues.

In Solar Wide, I design PCB’s for Thermal Imaging, Thermal Gun, Stud sensors, ultrasonic measuring, smart tools for iPhone & Android, radios & many other consumer products which we market for the US & Europe. I have been doing PCB’s for the past 20yrs. mostly for consumer, home tools & novelty products, in spite of these I want to enhance my skills especially in the field of RF, Audio & High Speed Circuits using BGA’s, DDR rams & HDI’s.

I use Altium Designer software but also had experienced Pads & Orcad many years ago. I also interface our PCB’s inside 3D ID’s & make 3D libraries using Altium itself. I can speak a little Cantonese & Mandarin but my main language is English which was beneficial to my HK & China colleagues because some are now fluent in it.

Lead a team of PCB designers which are involved in designing for power tools, power supplies, home appliances & at the same time still involve in Solarwide Ind. Ltd. Projects. We also visit & inspect our PCB & PCBA vendors to better improve their process.

Strengths and achievements:

Draft new guidelines in the process for EE requesting new PCB designs

Setup rules for better PCB design in DFM/ DFA, EMC/ EMI

I do final checking & debugging of schematic before going to design stage

I still maintain all the libraries of Solarwide & CPT

Perform full support for both Solarwide & CPT in terms of PCB design

My involvement in the R&D department is to assist EE engineers in making their PCB’s, debugging schematics, create & maintain footprints for our libraries for the whole company. I was the only designer for the whole company for more than 10yrs.

Create & update footprints needed for manufacturing & adapt to the latest process needed.

Design PCB’s for quick sampling & pilot run.

Teach Altium Designer to colleagues

Maintain the database of all projects for ease of retrieval.
