Work Experience

July 2 March 2013-current: Berwick Hills Medical Surgery, Counsellor.

Trainee Therapeutic counsellor/psychotherpist in various aspects

of psychotherapy; specialising in Transactional Analysis, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, CBT.

July 2012- current: DH Homecare, Support Worker.

Supporting clients in their homes with their everyday requirements; anything from making a cup of tea to hoisting in and out of bed. Communication is the main thrust, allowing clients a chance to chat and feel apart of the outside world.

Feb 2008 – 2012: Ryde House, Support Worker .

Supporting clients with Learning difficulties in a care home. Assisted them with all their basic everyday needs and encouraged their participation with the outside world and all aspects of being out in the community. From fund raising events to participation in the local college partaking in activities; including Literacy and Numeracy and life skills.

Sept 2005 – 2009: Isle of Wight College, Basic Skills Lecturer

Delivering Literacy and Numeracy for Life Skills. Also taught creative writing classes which encouraged the students’ self expressions and individual voices.

2003-2005: Weymouth College, Basic Skills Lecturer

Delivering Literacy, Numeracy and Key Skills; all relevant to the working environment.

1998-2003: City Facilities, Bakery Cleaner.

I cleaned a supermarket’s bakery six nights a week, whilst also training to become a teacher, firstly with my degree and then PGCE.

1996-1998: Royal Manor School, Youth Worker.

Encouraging the interaction/social skills of the youngsters into the activities provided. Coached the Monday night footballers. Initiated a cultural exchange between Dorset students and Asian students from Birmingham.
