To Whom It May Concern,
I am currently finishing my Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology with an expected graduation date of December 2016. This degree has allowed me to secure and maintain an Internship at Steel Dynamics Inc., Structural and Rail Division, as the Electrical Engineering Intern.
The experience at SDI allowed me to become familiar with lean manufacturing and gain knowledge in product flow from start, raw material stage, to finished product shipping. The culture at SDI has helped me grow the understanding for safety as I conducted Lockout Tag out Procedure creation/verification as well as implementing equipment to improve operations safety. I have been involved in many projects and have executed many different roles that have allowed me to understand the steps required to conduct a project from start to finish. In these different roles I have gain experience in basic hands on electrical procedure, Seimens and Allen Bradley PLC programming, safety procedure formalities, contractor relations, custom system fabrication and implementation, data analysis, and project management.
Previous to the Engineering Internship I held positions where my work ethic and commitment to excellence has allowed for the opportunity of having an open door to jobs if I ever needed them. My family has owned and operated businesses throughout my life and has allowed me to be gain experience as a manager and operator. I have conducted business analysis to promote better and more cost efficient practices as well as increasing the customer base the company had. I have also gained experience in delegating work to employees to meet business goals. During my time managing the business I have conducted equipment maintenance, mechanical and electrical, to reduce overhead costs.
I feel I am a well rounded individual who has knowledge of managerial procedures, electrical background, and an inclination for mechanical operations. I look forward to discussing my experiences further in person.
Sincerely,
Grayson Carpenter
