PRODUCT DESIGN EXPERIENCE
Graduate Product Design (Tissue Fusion Device): University of Colorado (Aug 2015 – May 2016) Invented a medical testing device to perform a lower bowel anastomosis surgery to study the effects of thermal tissue fusion in the body. Performed 97 successful tissue fusions in porcine tissue and pressure tested each seal. Advanced Project Design (PillOne Dispenser): University of Colorado (Jan 2015 – May 2015) Designed and 3D printed a bottle for those with motor control impairment to accurately dispense prescription pills. Went through extensive testing by individuals with Parkinson’s disease and arthritis. Mechatronics and Robotics (Biathlon): University of Colorado (Jan 2015 – May 2015) Built and programmed a robot with an embedded control system to autonomously navigate a course and fire 8 projectiles at different sized targets. Received the highest single round score. Independent Study (Indentation MTS Testing): University of Colorado (Feb 2014 – Oct 2014) Manufactured a steel fixture to perform indentation testing of various cross-links of PDMS using a Mechanical Testing System. Used Oliver-Pharr analysis to determine structural properties such as the Young’s Modulus. Thesis Research (In-Shoe Data Recording Device): Tulane University (Mar 2012 – May 2013) Created a removable in-shoe device that incorporated a tri-axial accelerometer and embedded controls to obtain data from gait patterns as well as high performance athletic data. Accurate toe-off to heal-strike measurements. Team Design Project (Sound Dome): Tulane University (Aug 2012 – May 2013) Built a uni-directional sound emitter that projected a cylindrical sound profile to eliminate ambient noise. Tulane’s Office of Disability Services used the device to help learning disabled students during testing.
