Dear Sir / Madame,
My name is Seán O’ Donoghue, and I would like to apply for the position advertised with your company. I am a college graduate with an honours bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering. As can be seen from my attached CV I have approximately 18 month’s industry related experience and I am looking to progress this further.
I have a work Visa and can legally work in Canada, which can be verified with visa documentation if required. I am arriving in Vancouver on the 16th of January and am looking to start immediately. From previous employment positions I have experience with data analysis, AutoCAD, reporting to management, risk / safety assessments, training and auditing, most if not all of which I think can be applied to the advertised post. In my last role as an environmental health and safety officer these were all skills that I used on a weekly basis. My role included corresponding with the EPA, drafting reports for management, enforcing health and safety on site with other employees on site, taking water samples and odour monitoring. Previous to this post I worked with the EPA on a student placement and I found that in the safety officer role I was corresponding with former colleges in the EPA a work-related manner which I found hugely educational. This for me reinforced the student placement experience as well as the material studied in college and was an experience I really enjoyed.
I am an enthusiastic, creative and an outgoing person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. I bring a lot of energy and a solid work rate to the work place and would appreciate the opportunity to discuss further my candidacy for the role be this in person when I arrive or via skype.
I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Yours Faithfully
