Cover Letter for CyberCoders - Product Quality Engineer

Dear Sir/Madam,

It is with great enthusiasm that I apply for the position of Product Quality Engineer at CyberCoders, as advertised on the indeed.ca website. I am a recent graduate in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ottawa, and have I completed the final CAD research project in this program. I am confident that with my knowledge and experience, I am equipped with the experience and skills necessary for this position.

My research project allowed me to put into practice many of the course theory learned throughout my education. As a part of my final CAD research project, my team members and I researched and designed an unmanned, lighter-than-air aircraft. The project involved exploring various weighing methods in order to choose a final design concept. After undergoing extensive designing processes, I analyzed the concept for stresses and safety factors, ensuring that the design with the materials selected could indeed be manufactured. I then used Solidworks to design every component in the proposed concept, while applying the correct material and weight. Using Matlab, I created a program allowing users to choose various inputs from which the designed Matlab code could optimize the entire design to ensure safety factors and other requirements were achieved. I achieved this through a parameterization method which changes the dimensions (found in Solidworks) of the entire design while still remaining functional. This course helped me to completely utilize and enhance my skills in product design.

While my research project was a team effort involving three other team members, the delegation of tasks allowed me to be a part of every aspect of the project. As a team member, I supported other team members in their duties by assisting or supervising certain tasks in order to ensure that they were performed efficiently. Throughout the project, I reviewed and proofread my team members’ work, ensuring a high level of accuracy. On a frequent basis, I provided an updated summary of my research findings to the research time and my research director. I discussed any conclusions made based on my findings, as well as any difficulties encountered and suggestions for ameliorating the research method.

As an individual with a great passion for mechanical engineering and a broad skill set, I am confident that working at CyberCoders as a Product Quality Engineer would be a great opportunity to utilize and develop my skills while contributing to the objectives of CyberCoders.
