EXPERIENCE:

North America Operation Manager, W. R. Grace 01/2015 – 03/2016

Managed operations and P&L for 12 multi-site specialty construction chemical manufacturing facilities and multiple distribution centers supporting business with over $250M in annual sales.

Responsibilities included Environmental Health & Safety (EHS); manufacturing; quality; factory administration; and logistics.

Supervised 10 plant/operation managers with a support staff of 65 production employees and 5-20 temporary labor pool and a dedicated fleet of 60-75 liquid bulk tankers.

Utilized embedded six sigma black-belts and staff to achieve annual productivity targets of 3-4% of costs ($5M) by reducing freight costs $1.5M, material costs by $2.0M and $1.5M in other projects.

Managed expenses of $150M+ including manufacturing costs, factory, labor and freight costs.

Lead Organizational change for the North America Operations group from three regions to a single region.

Re-aligned reporting structure to optimize performance, EHS improvements, operational efficiency and productivity.

Global Operations Manager, W. R. Grace Fire Protection, Irondale, AL 01/2006 – 12/2014

Managed operation portion of the P&L for global multi-site operations of four manufacturing facilities and multiple warehouses supporting business with over $50M in annual sales and 80 employees including a five truck dedicated fleet.

Responsibilities included total operations, EHS, factory administration, freight and materials. Implemented EHS Management System (based on RCMS) at three North American plants.

Launched manufacturing at two licensed operation facilities in Beijing and Moscow to manufacture and distribute for their local markets & managed a toll manufacturer in Saudi Arabia.

Responsible for the Global Network program of all operations to ensure products were delivered from the lowest-landed cost location and realized a productivity level of $1.2M. Achieved annual productivity target of 4% of costs by improvements in freight, throughput and plant balancing as well as a 15% reduction in inventory DOH from 35 days to 29.5 DOH.

Implemented Six Sigma, 5S and Lean Initiatives to help business run from unprofitable in 2006 to profitable in 2007.

North America Field Dispenser Manager, W. R. Grace, Cambridge, MA 01/2002 – 12/2005

Managed operations for field service team responsible for installing and maintaining company owned equipment at 3,500 customer locations to support the specialty chemical concrete admixture business.

Responsibilities included EHS, planning, and budgeting of $10M in capital and $15M in expense supported by five regional managers and 80 field technicians.

Supported a business that grew from $200M to $250M while reducing headcount by 20% through improvements in dispatching and six sigma projects to improve equipment up-time.

Executed projects to add new customer on time and on budget; 2 projects included customers with over 100 locations.

Six Sigma Black Belt (Certified), W. R. Grace, Cambridge, MA 10/1998 – 12/2001

Worked to improve process and system functions within Grace Performance Chemicals as part of the SIX Sigma Team.

Directed projects for several Six Sigma teams to save $0.6M in 2001 and $1M in 2001 on an annualized basis.

Projects included increasing the operating efficiency of a sheet membrane manufacturing line for 65% to over 80% and increasing the utilization of a private liquid bulk tanker fleet by 20%.
