My dissertation

I worked on “FLT3 ITD mutation in Acute myeloid leukemia”. It was about studying the incidence and the prognostic significance of FLT3 ITD mutation in newly diagnosed cases of acute myeloid leukemia. It was an extra-ordinary learning experience for me, with hands on working with DNA extraction, PCR amplification and Gel electrophoresis. I acquired skills of extracting DNA from peripheral blood samples and a few samples from giemsa stained slides both by manual Phenol Chloroform method and using DNA extraction kit. Following which the DNA isolated was amplified using PCR which gave me an opportunity to step into the field of molecular pathology. The amplicons were sequenced using sangers sequencing, which was out-sourced. A good deal of knowledge on statistics was gained on working on the thesis. As a part of another project I have also worked on detecting NPM mutations in Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Experienced in interpretation of Immunofluorescence in renal and skin biopsies.
