As the electrical and controls engineer I am responsible for design of motor control, instrumentation and PLC design. As a member of the project engineering team it is my duty to work with the other engineering disciplines to work out the overall plan for each project and ensure the end user’s specifications are being followed. I am also responsible for all PLC software development and HMI design. Other duties include support of the field service team by phone, remote connection to controls and occasional trips to the field.

As new product development manager my role was to redesign current products for better performance and/or efficiency and create new products to add to our product line. Tasks ranged from large to small with the development of an ultra low emissions burner being the biggest project. For the burner project I had to oversee my lab, the combustion lab at Berkley and a firm performing Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations.

As the electrical controls engineer it was my duty to design the control system for each boiler system (boilers were made one at a time as a custom product), write and test the PLC programs, create the HMI graphics and be the overall electrical expert for the company and our customers.

As the field service technician I was responsible for startup of new equipment, troubleshooting issues with existing equipment and tech support. Startups consisted of burner tuning, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, setup of instrumentation and training of end users.
