Director of Technology and Product Development

General Manager of the Razer Austin site. Handled all operations for maintaining a satellite office of 5 people.

Responsibilities included technology exploration, research, and concept creation for gaming systems and peripherals. Also responsible for all product development and road mapping of all Razer software, systems and peripheral products. Managed a team of 15 people, including a director in Singapore and a manager in the U.S.

● Developed concept ideas for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that has won 3 consecutive Best of Show awards.

● Created a technology discovery and vetting process for the company.

● Instituted a companywide innovation mining program called Innovation Outreach that netted multiple patents and products ideas.

● Created a product development process for all lines of business inside of Razer. This greatly improved the predictability of the team’s deliverables.

● Developed a template for product concepts that was used by all lines of business within Razer that improved product descriptions. Also, simplified the signature and approval process to expedite the development process over all.

Senior CTO Manager / Technologist (2007-2010)

Directed/oversaw gaming strategy and technology. Led a group of technologists whose mission was to supply the newly formed gaming organization with technology recommendations, gaming strategy, graphics technology and evangelizing Dell’s gaming initiatives.

● Spearheaded the effort to integrate Alienware into Dell after the acquisition of the gaming company.

● Established relationships with many key gaming industry leaders garnering support in evangelizing Dell’s entry into the gaming space.

● Discovered key peripheral technologies, haptics, body sensors, gesture recognition and gaming level graphics for the new line of gaming systems at DELL.

● Established the PC Gaming Alliance, a gaming industry-wide consortium, to help improve the gaming experience.

Senior Engineering Manager Graphics & Video Solutions (1997-2007)

Directed/oversaw a worldwide graphics engineering team consisting of 5 managers and 50+ engineers. All graphics and video solutions for all DELL products had to come through my organization for productization.

● Built and led the engineering graphics development team for the brand new DELL workstation organization. Supplied all graphics solutions for DELL’s new workstation division.

● Established a very solid and predictable process to guarantee all graphics deliverables.

● Responsibility grew to include all graphics and video solutions for all DELL PC’s which included desk tops, portables and servers.

● Met and exceeded all internal quality metrics. Continually modified the process to “push left” to enable earlier validation and testing within the process.

● Improved organizational productivity and product portfolio offerings through workforce globalization efforts that utilized talent in China and Taiwan effectively freeing up resources in the U.S.

● Created an employee recognition program that was utilized by the entire engineering organization. Developed simple criteria to reward employees that “went the extra mile.” Received great feedback from employees who said it was nice to know that they were valued. Resulted in increased morale.

● Improved efficiency. Instituted two key plans to pass engineering work back to vendors and suppliers. Trained vendors and suppliers on process to ensure the quality is maintained. Increased throughput by 20% and maintained deliverable schedules and quality without increasing head count.

Senior Engineering Manager / Junior Engineer

Hired into IBM as a design engineer. Participated or led many design projects specializing in logic and analog circuit design, simulation and countless lab hours proving out and debugging designs.
