Responsibilities: Primary care provider in a fast-paced, rural, community health center. Involved in all aspects of patient care from pediatrics to geriatrics, including: detailed history, physical examinations, development and implementation of treatment plans, prescription of medications, ordering and interpretation of laboratory tests and diagnostic studies, as well as in-office procedures. Achievements: For three years I served as the sole clinical provider during extended clinic hours, participated in a community-based program educating adolescents at the local middle school about skin care and dermatologic conditions, organized and led the annual Freestone County community health fair, volunteered as a speaker for the local public service radio ads to increase community awareness on preventative healthcare screenings, and served as a member of the National Health Service Corps

Diagnose and treat common acute care problems including URI’s, bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, pharyngitis, mononucleosis, influenza, allergic rhinitis, asthma/COPD exacerbations, UTI’s, otitis media and externa, conjunctivitis, corneal abrasions, migraines, gastroenteritis, sprains/strains, fractures/dislocations, allergic reactions, animal/insect bites, and dermatitis.
Experience in the management of chronic medical illnesses such as, but not limited to: diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, thyroid disease, COPD, asthma, heart failure, GERD, IBS, anemia, OA, obesity, chronic pain syndrome, anxiety and depression.
Procedures: I and D’s, suture and staple removal, wound and skin care, SC and IM injections, joint injections, splinting, ear lavage, eye examinations using fluorescein stain and woods lamp, foreign body removal, cryotherapy.
Extensive practice in the area of pediatrics and adolescent medicine including well child/adolescent exams, screening sports physicals, diet and nutrition, effective management of ADHD/ADD, and childhood behavioral problems.
Women’s health including papanicolaou cytology smears and wet preps, evaluation and management of breast pain/masses, vaginitis, PID, sexually transmitted diseases, abnormal uterine bleeding, menopause, osteoporosis, contraceptive initiation and surveillance as well as basic obstetric care. Additional training attained in the insertion and removal of Nexplanon contraceptive implant.
Extensive training and knowledge as a Department of Transportation (DOT) certified medical examiner. Ability to certify drivers to operate commercial motor vehicles based on their history, physical exam and qualifications under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
(FMCSA) guidelines.
