●Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, Americas Technical Center, Akron, Ohio Project Engineer, Materials Sciences 2013-2015

Responsible for new and 2nd source indirect and direct Materials approvals supporting North and Latin American consumer and commercial tire plants. As Latin American Materials Coordinator had oversight for > $5million of projects leading to plant savings and new local sources.

Approval projects activities include supplier certification, mixing, laboratory testing, data review and reports to meet approval criteria leading to approved materials for the Corporate and tire plant purchasing data bases.

Led internal audits as a Lead and team auditor at Corporate technical center.

Project Engineer, Process Product Development 2008-2013

Primary responsibility required providing technical processing and standardization support to tire engineering, mold design and tire plants to complete new and existing product industrialization. Efforts reduced new product approval times by one cycle or enabled project completion on time.

Analyze plant processes and data using 6 sigma tools to determine process capability and make countermeasures. E-drafting engineering changes for process improvement.

Coordinator of biannual New Product meetings between plants, sales, planning, materials, quality and tire and equipment engineering to review and achieve successful product launches.

Trained and provided ISO 9001 internal auditor support as lead auditor.

Received Presidents award for new PSR & LTR Eco-product launch support leading to near 100% acceptance compliance in production at 3 tire plants

Led innovation seeds projects investigating new processes and materials for consumer tires. Projects led to further project development in Tire and Materials engineering.

Project Engineer, Reinforcements Development 2001-2008

Led major project approving new higher strength polyester cord and adoption in 8 North and Latin American plants for PSR and LTR tires. Received CEO Award for project completion. Material improved corporate competitive strategy for OE and trade tire business.

Completed 2nd source approvals and plant trials with polyester and nylon cord and plant process trials on Kevlar, fiberglass and rayon materials.

Provided open wheel Race Tire materials and process support from Tech Center with plant and supplier visits as needed. Reduced rejected material rates by more than 50% with improved processing and new standards.

Development and implementation of reinforced Material Specifications used in Tire engineering and Plant Tech Services in all NA and LA plants. Received Presidents Award for successful completion and implementation of project.

Field return product evaluations & surveys of materials and construction at plants and tech centers.

Completed lab, material and process trial approvals for new polyester cord material for new tire building and stock preparation process. Project involved external supplier lab and equipment process and system approvals and assistance with design of new treating lines to meet our standards.

Process Engineer Technical Services Department

Responsible for technical oversight to the Calendering and Stock cutting Production departments producing steel, nylon and polyester ply stocks, innerliner, non-reinforced calendered tire components and bead filler and wires.

Verified daily production, assisted in Kaizan and waste reduction activities and provided standards and direct support to plant engineering. Conducted plant trials to validate and approve new materials as directed by plant and Corporate Purchasing.

Responsible for tracking and enforcing stock prop engineering and mixing countermeasures to deal with seasonal environmental changes to plant and keep production and quality to standards.

Responsible for support to the Tech Center open wheel Race Tire production and development departments overseeing plant production and included assisting plant mixing and Tech Center final production to solve materials disposition as needed.

Received Plant Managers Award for engineering and startup of an edge control system to improve calendered textiles and reduce waste by more than 20% and led to system payback within first year of use. Presented findings at corporate calendering workshop leading to addition of systems at other plants.

Completed Capital calendering control system upgrade projects with plant engineering and qualified 2 systems to meet local and Corporate standards.
