CAPSTONE PROJECTS
Stem Cell Project (Spring 2016)
Determined scale and scope of stem cell manufacturing facility to treat traumatic spinal injuries. Included costing, sizing, and qualifying all equipment. Estimated initial capital, labor, and operating costs.
Corrosion Project (Spring 2016)
Salt spray/immersion, surface inspection with optical microscopy identifying corrosive formation trends of metals. Used Instron to test materials tensile stress and strain at different stages of corrosion.
Distillation Tower Project (Spring 2016)
Sized and costed all parameters for a methanol distillation tower given a certain feed rate and composition. Projected optimization of all components and achieved the lowest operational cost possible. Project included exploring classical distillation, vapor recompression, and refrigerator recycle loops. Successful incorporation of P&ID into each system. Worked effectively in team-oriented collaborative environment. Utilized separation column and plant economics.
OhWOW! Project (Fall 2014)
Worked in teams to create hands-on Engineering design concept for OhWOW! Children’s museum, Placing 3rd/20. Constructed standing maze for children to build hand eye coordination skills.
Experienced with MatLAB, welding, and Solidworks to engage children in engineering concepts.
