Senior Network Engineer
Maintained functionality, interoperability and scalability aspects of network to support the infrastructure that includes core routers and switches. This job entails exhaustive hands-on experience on Cisco Routers, Switches and Firewalls.
Maintain and monitor the network, provide troubleshooting and support when needed. Provide training and mentoring for junior engineers.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Site upgrade by replacing 7609 with a Nexus 7K and a pair of Cisco 93128TX switches. Created topology diagrams and configuations for deployment.
Configure new Citrix Netscalers, ASA 5585 firewalls and Dell MXL 1000e for a backup site in boulder.
Upgrade the distribution capacity to 40 gig from 10 gig over multi vendor platform. (Dell, Citrix and Cisco)
ASA 5585 cisco firewall, configure and deploy at our remote centers for security and traffic engineering. Installed a pair with active/standby redundancy with minimal downtime. Helped configure a cluster firewalls for the segregated DMZ.
Migrate to a new flow collector from a physical appliance to a VM. This increased the flow analytic capability and will help with future planning of bandwidth requirements.
Create weekly traffic volume consumption report for our network to project any future expansion or bandwidth requirenments using Plixer Scrutinizer.
Migration and replacement of our old cisco 6509 routers with the new ASR 1002. [Replaced 4 6509 with 8 ASR’s] All this done on production with minimum downtime. Used GLBP for load balancing and improved redundancy by having 2 ASR per site instead of one 6509.
Using Check_mk and scrutinizer to Trend the Traffic volume throughout our network and suggested upgrades for any bottle neck issues.
Certify new Routers, Switches, Security appliances and Firmware for field usage
Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the network.
Upgraded the guest network to support approx. 4000 users from 512 user.
