Military Service

United States Marine Corps, September 1979 to September 1983

Rank at discharge, Lance Corporal (E-3). Military Occupation Specialty: 4034 IBM mainframe systems operator. Ran IBM 360 mainframe (mounted tapes, changed disk packs, ran high speed line printers). Also worked 18 months on the staff of the 3rd Marine Air Wing, Wing Information Systems Office, G-4 section. Duties included typing, filing, on-site inspection of Minicomputer suites, also instructed Staff NCOs, and Company grade Officers in minicomputer software and hardware use. Also a had commercial driver’s license for cars, vans, and pickup trucks.

Work Experience

May 1995 to November 2015: CMI/HLI/DMI/chassix, Bristol IN (plant had 4 names in 20 years)

Positions included: Quality Tech (gauging parts, in-process checks, final audits), Utility person (driving forklift, gauging parts, performing fluid penetrant inspection, giving X-ray operators breaks), and 19 years as a Radiographic Tech, level 2 (loading and unloading X-ray equipment, performing visual inspections, and reading digital radiographs of automotive suspension components). Also volunteered for the Emergency Response Team (first aid, CPR, AED, Hazwoper class), company picnic and winter party committees, three shop floor Kaizen teams, one MBF team, and was taking Green Belt Training. I also attended Level 2 X-ray training, rqan by MQS/Cooperheat in Hammond, IN 2 weeks. Reason for dismissal: excessive attendance points.

April 1993 to April 1995: EFP Elkhart, IN

Positions included: Tender (making boxes, sorting dunnage, placing labels on boxes, ready for shipment) End of line inspector (loading/unloading a multi-tiered expanded foam core assembly system, and perform touch-up gluing after completion of process), and molding machine operator. Reason for leaving: contract came up on inspection line, and I had lined up the Quality position at CMI

April 1991 to April 1993: Reese Products. Elkhart, IN

Positions included: Quality tech (entering scrap numbers, creating work instructions, helping create the Quality Manual), Robotic Welder Operator, making utility ball mounts (changing fixtures, filling work orders, running brake press, making adjustment to welds, keeping the robot running) Also had IV Tech on site classes on JIT, Blueprint reading, SPC, Shop math, and Leading small group improvement teams.

October 1983 to April 1989: Skyline Corporation. Elkhart IN

Positions included: Associate Programmer (writing and maintain COBOL programs on IBM 4331 Mainframe, and System 36 minicomputer), Night/Day Shift Operations (mounted tapes, printed reports, on same systems)
