SUMMARY OF MAJOR COMANCHE PEAK NUCLEAR POWER PLANT PROJECTS

OVER THE PAST 15 YEARS

• (2013) Prepared design of fire protection system for new startup transformer, consisting of one fire zone detection and suppression, one fire zone tamper detection, one fire zone water flow detection. Calculated spacing of detectors in accordance with industry standards, specified cable and raceway design. Performed 10CFR50.59 Review for design. Supervised continuity testing of installation.

• (2010 – 2013) Prepared or reviewed electrical and I&C (conventional and digital) design change packages for Dry Cask Storage project. These designs included electrical distribution system with a UPS; digital recorder and cask RTD installations including digital instrumentation; and installation of VFDs for the cask loading crane. Digital design was prepared for all digital installations. Performed 10CFR50.59 and 10CFR72.48 Reviews for electrical and I&C scope of project.

• (2011 – 2013) Prepared I&C digital design change package for nine 10KVAUninterruptible Power Systems providing power to Emergency Plan Voice Over Internet (VOIP) communication system modules requiring power for 24 hours. Coordinated UPS design with vendor. Performed 10CFR50.59 Review for I&C digital scope of project. Supervised commissioning testing for the modules.

• (2009 – 2012) Prepared electrical and I&C digital design change packages for multimillion-dollar replacement Fuel Building Bridge Crane. The crane included overall control by digital Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and motor control by VFDs. Developed electrical and instrumentation/digital requirements for procurement specification, coordinated vendor design, reviewed vendor design and testing documents, prepared electrical and instrumentation/digital design for site design change package, which included selection of power sources and revision of load calculations. Performed 10CFR50.59 Review electrical and I&C digital scope of project, including a 10CFR50.59 Evaluation under NEI-01-01 requirements for the digital design. Updated design basis documents and FSAR. Supported commissioning testing of the crane.

• (2008 – 2011) Prepared or reviewed electrical and I&C (conventional and digital) design change packages for projects supporting Power Uprate to both units. Electrical designs included selection of power sources and revision of load calculations. I&C designs included rescaling of analog control loops with revision to scaling calculations, and revision to digital controls for the main feedwater turbines and pumps. Performed 10CFR50.59 Reviews for electrical/I&C scope of projects, including a 10CFR50.59 Evaluation under NEI-01-01 requirements for the feedwater digital design revision. Prepared test documents and supported commissioning testing.

Two major Power Uprate projects included replacement of the main power transformers and replacement of the isophase bus cooler with larger cooler controlled by digital PLC. In support of these projects reviewed vendor design and testing documents and performed 10CFR50.59 Reviews for electrical and I&C digital design scope of projects, including a 10CFR50.59 Evaluation under NEI-01-01 requirements for the isophase bus cooler digital design. Supervised factory acceptance test for isophase bus cooler which included qualifying two I&C engineers, both now discipline managers, for digital testing qualification. Supported commissioning testing.
