An IT Professional with 32 years of IT Commercial experience within the Insurance, Banking, Retail and Leisure sectors.
Proficient in a broad range of technical software and packages with core technical competencies in development technologies such as SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 & 2012 (T-SQL, SSRS and DTS), Cognos 8, COBOL, DB2, IMS and CICS. Waitrose

Waitrose is a chain of British supermarkets, which forms the food retail division of Britain's largest employee-owned retailer, the John Lewis Partnership. Its head office is located in Bracknell, Berkshire, England. As of February 2015, Waitrose had 344 branches across the United Kingdom, including 30 "little Waitrose" convenience stores, and a 5.1% share of the market, making it the sixth-largest grocery retailer in the UK.
Working as an Applications Operations Technical, provided 3rd line support for incident, problem and change via the work queues in the ServiceNow system.
Creating/amending SQL Server 2008 timed Jobs, producing numerous ad-hoc reports using SQL Server 2008 (T-SQL) queries to produce reports and creating/amending COBOLII Programs as required.
Support and promote strategic IT Service Management policy and processes throughout Waitrose IT.
Support any development work taking place within Merchandising and Ticketing systems team itself and also in other teams which require Merchandising or Ticketing input.
Achievements:-
Part of the team that created in-house Service Counter Tickets that were previously produced by a 3rd party, thus saving the company £900,000 per year.
Designed, coded, tested, implemented and supported changes that added the Block/Shelf/Sequence details to tickets in Branch. This greatly assisted the Branches in quickly locating each product to be ticketed.
Designed and coded Ticketing changes to highlight reductions in product price. This led to increased sales in all Branches.
Saved roughly a million sheets of paper (and associated costs) by reducing the amount of unnecessary Mainframe reports produced, including merging/removing various reports.
Created a new report which gave Branches a heads-up of the Impact of future Layout Group Changes, thus giving more time to plan staffing levels etc.
Provided high-quality design/coding/testing work for the Ticketing & Merchandising systems.
Reduced the number of problems and incidents by making appropriate system changes.
Ensured Wiki and other support documentation was kept up to date.
Built good relationships with end-users and colleagues alike.

Working as an Application Support Analyst, helped maintain the FCS applications, made data changes in accordance with FCS data
change process and produced reports as required ensuring service of the applications were provided to a high standard of production

Working as a Systems Support Analyst alongside the Finance department supporting a web-based purchase order system,
including occasional site visits to assist and train users.
Extensive use of SSRS 2005 & 2008 and T-SQL.
Achievements:-
As 1st line support, responded to and helped resolve day to day system queries from both Parks and Head Office.
Created a monthly SQL procedure that initially notified the users, then deleted any invoice > 6 months old that the user had not asked to be excluded from the deletion process. This made far more accurate accounting possible.
Produced/amended various reports via SSRS, including the provision of accurately measuring all unpaid invoices and their value, which was used to “clean up” the systems.
Created email alerts using T-SQL, HTML & XML to pro-actively report potential data errors before they reach the system.
Amended numerous Cognos D-CUBES, D-LINKS and D-LISTS to cater for a new Charter Of Accounts system.
Monitored and acted upon failure email alerts quickly and efficiently.
