Services Lead - Streaming Media, Microsoft 2005 – 2015

Efficiently managed and coordinated a broadcast communications team for a highly visible, live webcast environment that delivered critical business messaging to internal and external audiences. Provided meaningful and simplified technical direction to align people and resources to deliver business results. Managed scope, budget, measurement and analytics for over 400 live and on-demand online events delivered to millions of global attendees annually.

Successfully upgraded Microsoft’s streaming service to utilize the most advanced in streaming technology resulting in reduced total cost of ownership, improved media quality and performance, and maximize cross platform interoperability

Collaborated with IT and business partners to implement an automated live broadcast system to commission, manage, monitor, and troubleshoot webcasts and streaming events reducing the amount of time required to activate servers and encoders by 50 percent.

Created a captioning service to address accessibility requirements for live and on-demand media. This caption service was expanded to include real time machine translation services to enable up to 20 selectable languages in support of localization requirements.

Led and managed many live event projects with varying levels of complexity that required multiple layers of redundancy, diversity, and strategic planning to deliver a risk free experience.

Led organization’s effort to empower field offices to drive media communications by introducing a low cost solution that enabled them to reliably send video and audio content back to Microsoft Studios for webcast distribution without the need for expensive satellite trucks or fiber paths.
