Career Summary

As the Senior Commodity Manager – MRO, I currently I manage a $120 million indirect spend and $200 million in Capital Expenditures over 41 plants in North America within a coordinated data base, using SAP platform. With the help of 2 direct reports, I negotiate and administer national agreements for key product and service areas. I work with Operations, Engineering, Finance and our supply base to maximize production up time at the lowest overall cost. I have had manufacturing and project experience at both plant and corporate levels. My Purchasing experience, in direct and indirect spends, is over a broad range of commodities including plastics, rubber, power transmission, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and controls, castings, machined parts, capital equipment, safety equipment and supplies, janitorial supplies and office supplies. As a result of my efforts within the MRO arena over the last 5 years, consolidating supply bases and leveraging spend, I have generated hard PBIT savings in excess of $19 million. I work to develop a cooperative relationship with my suppliers and a cohesive procurement team in order to make them true partners in our success. I have recently added CapEx to my responsibilities with an additional $200 million in spend and 3 added direct reports.

Recent Accomplishments

Buyer Alignment for MRO August 2016

I presented the MRO strategy going forward with an emphasis on more central control for the next few years and provided Procure to Pay training through I/T for consistent transactional processes among all locations. Organized group and ad hoc sessions to get immediate feedback and an understanding of plant concerns and to share best practices with the goal of streamlining the ordering, stocking and issuing of spare parts at the plant level while still driving contract compliance.

Negotiated National Agreement July 2014

I led a negotiation for general industrial products, safety and janitorial products to gain a national agreement on behalf of all Berkshire Hathaway companies with opportunities for significant savings and beneficial services to the member companies, with a combined potential spend exceeding $200 million.

MRO Policies and Procedures January 2014

I authored and worked within the Johns Manville Legal, HR, Finance and Operations groups to gain approval of and begin implementation of previously non-existent formal Policies and Procedures to govern the MRO process within the manufacturing facilities.

SAP-MRO Integration, Phase I June 2012

I developed and applied an integration strategy to bring 7 newly acquired plants into the SAP MRO system, converting their spare parts inventories to be consistent with all other Amcor spare parts inventories. I put together a cross functional team comprised of plant Controllers, warehouse people, corporate finance, I/T representatives and myself. We created a time line and drove the project to completion, significantly under budget in less than 3 months.

National Agreement, General Industrial Products December 2007

A potential opportunity was identified such that a national agreement to cover General Industrial products would save significant money. A market basket was developed, suppliers capable of providing the products and services desired were identified, an RFP was prepared and negotiations were finalized with the winner. A process for driving compliance was developed and implemented, resulting in first year savings of 29%, growing in subsequent years to 41% savings against pre-agreement costs. Several other national agreements have been executed resulting in significant cost reductions, covering: compressor maintenance, mechanical spend, electrical spend, water treatment, janitorial, safety equipment.
