Senior Engineer (2011-Present)

Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) design teams from concept to production. Have completed nearly 20 ‘A’ or ‘B’-ranked projects as well as numerous minor programs. Recently executed a Kenmore / Panasonic Steerable Bagless Upright and Low Cost High Performance Bagless Upright. NPI was on time and below budget, despite significant design and specification changes and challenges.

•Generate new and creative ideas related to product, performance, feature, quality, and process improvements.

•Coordinate with cross-functional team members to achieve tollgate milestones and production targets related to schedule achievement as well as product performance, cost and quality goals.

•Complete Quality Assurance activities including FMEA, FEA, and Kaizen

•Ensure products follow ISO 9001 and DFM policies and procedures to successfully introduce products to a high-volume manufacturing environment.

•Prepare process improvement plans for Cost Reductions, Process Flow, and Quality countermeasures.

•Conduct quality Quick Task meetings to expedite solving quality issues related to vendor quality, molding, performance, and manufacturability.

•Evaluate assembly line instructions to ensure products are manufactured to meet objectives.

•Work with domestic and international suppliers to ensure on time delivery of tooling, parts and assemblies. Includes negotiating cost and quality objectives.

•Evaluate part and assembly drawings to verify proper dimensioning is used and GD&T practices are applied correctly.

•Travel to manufacturing and audit locations in China, Japan, and Mexico, to oversee project development processes from concept through production.

•Develop, track and implement new model budget including, cost analysis, feature cost justification, cost-reduction activities, and overall project cost tracking.

•Manage 4-10 engineering team members by establishing priorities, assigning work and reviewing completed assignments, along with yearly appraisal analysis.

•Generate and protect intellectual property for the company in the form of Patents and documented Best Practices.

•Design and develop injection-molded, metal-stamped, extruded, die-cast, corrugated, EPS and electrical parts and components for the consumer goods market

•Create complex 3D models utilizing PTC Creo software tools.

•Negotiate new/replacement workstations, and engineering software including new and contract renewal.
