“Environmental assessment and aquifer vulnerability study in part of Tamil Nadu, southeast coast of India (Porto Nova to Velankanni)”

Abstract:

A coastal zone is the interface between the land and water. These zones are important because a majority of the world's population inhabit such zones. Coastal zones are continually changing because of the dynamic interaction between the ocean and the land. The energy reaching the coast can become high during storms, and such high energies make coastal zone areas of high vulnerability to natural hazards. Thus, an understanding of the interaction of the ocean and the land is essential in understanding the hazards associated with coastal zones. The need for the study has its natural hazards like storm surge, cyclones, deep depressions and Tsunami as well as anthropogenic activities like industrial waste discharge, aquaculture, activities, urbanization and growing tourism. The aims and objectives of the study is to assess the water quality changes (surface & groundwater) with reference to brackish water aquaculture activities over the study area which will be done with the samples collected from the field, to assess the coastal land use changes using temporal remote sensing data (for approximately 22 years), to evaluate the aquifer vulnerability using GALDIT model due to salt water intrusion and finally, selecting suitable sites for brackish water aquaculture activities using weighted overlay analysis in GIS environment.

Title :

“Network analysis in vector environments on Chennai city using GIS & ARCOBJECTS with VB customization”

Abstract :

This project focuses on the four types of network analysis such as Shortest path, Closest facility, nearest Service area and OD cost matrix on the Road networks in the study area. There have been numerous studies done on which vector based model is more effective for network analysis. The Network Analyst extension for ArcGIS solves problems of network traffic on streets, rivers, railroads, or any interconnected set of lines. It can find the shortest or fastest route between your origin and your destination. It finds the closest facilities to a location, such as the closest hospital to a vehicle accident and it identifies service areas, such as areas serviced by a bank. It can find service area of a particular location for example 20-minute service area for a network location (such as a fire station) includes all the streets that can be reached within 20 minutes from that location. The road networks and landmarks were vectorized from this Remote sensing data. GIS software has been used for digitization, analysis and computational purpose and also for output generation. With the help of GIS software the base map, road map, landmark map and network analysis map have been prepared. Then with the help of this output the network analysis application is customized in Visual Basic editor, further customization tool for the related parameters are developed in ArcObjects. WORK EXPERIENCE :

Organization : Magnasoft Geospatial innovations, Bangalore.

Designation : Junior GIS Engineer,

Duration : From Oct 2015 to Till Now,

Projects:

i) DC-154 : Planimetric mapping

Role : Production / QC

Scope :

The scope of the project include mapping of different planimetric features like buildings, roads, walls and fences, trees, power line, lampposts, driveways etc. using auto cad map 3d . These features are mapped from the ortho imagery provided by the client. And mapclean and topology checks are done for the created map.

ii) DC-478 : Agriculture land identification

Role : Production / QC

Scope :

The scope of project includes identification of polygons that contain agriculture land. For this project client has provided LANDSAT imageries and a polygon shapefile classified based on the spectral characters using eCognition software. Arcmap 10.2 is used to identify the polygons that contain agriculture land and a point is place in such polygons.

iii) DC-410 : Taxmap conversion

Role : Production

Scope :

The scope of the project includes conversion of parcel taxmaps into geodatabase . The client has provided taxmaps as PDF and Autocad drawings. Various features like parcel polys, indexpolys, parcel text and other line features are converted into client given GDB and layout for each maps are created using data driven pages tool.

iv) DC-559 : Land use planning

Role : Production

Scope :

The scope of project involves parcel wise landuse classification of various features like Cropland, pasture, woodland, waterways etc. The Client has provided ortho imagery and parcel polygons for this project. v) DC-565 : Impervious features mapping

Role : Production / QC

Scope :

The scope of the project is to map impervious features like building rooftops, Roads, sidewalks, driveways and other miscellaneous concrete surfaces from ortho imagery. The project is carried out using AutoCAD map 3D and the features are converted into Arcmap GDB provide by client. PERSONAL DETAILS:
