Overview

Learning Professional with over 20 years’ experience in the training industry. I have worked as an in-house Trainer, a Training Consultant, a Certified Technical Trainer, a Project Lead and an Assistant Training Manager. While the titles may vary, my goal is always to design, deliver, and manage training programs that effectively meet the needs of my clients. That goal remains the same whether the client is a small business or a Fortune 100 company, and whether I am designing and delivering traditional ILT, guiding an executive in a one-on-one tutorial, helping other instructors in a TTT, facilitating an online webinar, creating eLearning, or providing a blended solution.

Certified Technical Training

I am a top 5%-ranked, certified IBM Trainer and Lotus Notes Instructor (CLI) for both technical system administration and application development courses. In 1997 I went through the rigorous 5 day CLI test during which a panel of Lotus/IBM personnel judged my ability to teach multiple Lotus Notes and Domino topics. Since that time, I have taught hundreds of Domino system administrators and Lotus Notes Application developers. In addition to receiving high scores on evaluations, I also receive extremely positive comments. It is not uncommon for managers to ask companies I’ve worked for to make sure that I am the only trainer to teach their people. I teach Domino administration, Lotus Notes Application Development, Sametime, Quickr and Connections.

Applications Training

I have taught thousands of learners to use the technology tools they need to succeed on the jobs. Whether I am teaching how to build a workbook in Microsoft Excel, create an effective presentation, or use a proprietary software application, my students have consistently responded positively to my classes, giving me excellent evaluation scores and good comments. It is not uncommon for clients to specifically request me as their instructor.

Performance Support

As part of an implementation team, I am often called upon to provide support to newly trained users. This may include:

Providing post-training walk-around and online support to clients

Assisting students in solving their real-world problems during and after training sessions

Providing Level 3 support in conjunction with migrations and implementation projects

Instructional Design

Creating effective training has always been part of my training/consulting work. This work includes:

Designing and developing training programs for ILT, and instructor-led online courses

Designing and develop eLearning courses for deployment through different learning management systems and delivery platforms, on company intranets, and as stand-alone products

Performing data tests and QA on courses prior to delivery, keystroking courseware and testing any exercises contained within the course

Technical Writing

To support both courses and applications I have developed, as well as other proprietary systems, customized business applications and off-the-shelf program, I create collateral materials. This may include:

Writing technically sound documentation that is easy for end-users to follow and understand

Creating clear and concise quick reference materials

Building comprehensive, cross-indexed online help systems for proprietary and customized off-the-shelf applications

Project Lead

I have acted as a project lead for many projects including Lotus Note application development, systems implementations, and training projects. Although the projects have varied, the skills and tasks necessary to successfully bring a project in on time and on budget are the same. These include:

Managing projects teams of trainers and/or IT staff during and after system implementations

Creating and tracking project timelines, monitoring milestones, and insuring timely completion of tasks

Lotus Domino System Administrator

I am a Certified Lotus Domino Administrator with over fifteen years of experience as both an in-house Backup Administrator, and a Technical Consultant.

Managing users (registering, renaming, recertifying, deleting and moving)

Monitoring email and responding to e-mail issues (dead mail, viruses, monitor mail queues, inbound and outbound SMTP mail, mail quotas, defining mail routing topologies)

As the use of SharePoint has grown, I have performed many Lotus Notes to SharePoint migrations including one for a large financial organization in which over 250 applications were migrated

Lotus Notes Application Developer

I am a Certified Lotus Notes Application Developer Principle Level. I was the primary Lotus Notes Developer at a small – midsized IT consulting firm where I designed and implemented Notes applications. As a consultant with Archer Targeted Solutions, I design and develop new applications as well as modify and update clients’ existing applications. Regardless whether I am performing Notes development for an internal or external client I use SDLC methodology. I meet with stakeholders and end users to fully understand their needs, learn their current workflows, and identify their business requirements. Once a design is established, I review it in detail with the stakeholders and end users. Then the application is programmed. When the beta is ready, I provide power users and stakeholders with testing scripts, who then access the application in a test environment. Only after the application has been through rigorous user testing is it installed in the production environment. After a pilot phase, I make any requested adjustments to the application, and it is then deployed to the entire user-base.
