At OST Global I supported the FEMA National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). This included being a Webmaster performing updates and maintenance to their public Website, maintaining multiple Intranet SharePoint business environments using SharePoint Designer, all while supporting content accessibility as a Section 508 Analyst.

Spearheaded reporting requirements used to present a transformational plan to the federal customers to take their contractor maintained commercial website to a federal government domain. As the front-end design lead for redesign projects across their program I helped to upgrade many of their web-based business applications. My job for the Advanced Software Design (ASD) was as an independent subcontractor conducting accessibility and usability testing, along with web interface design support to assist ASD with their CMS Enterprise Portal Integration validate code to requirement standards. I worked remotely for ASD project team managers where I modified navigations on web pages to address usability requirements, and to troubleshoot against targeted browser compatibility issues. My tasks were done iterative through scrums prepared by given daily updates to maintain a tight workflow and stay within projection timelines. I documented time and progress accurately until completion of assigned mission. Provided suggestions to technical issues that used jQuery, and other Java Scripting inconsistencies that were identified, and developed usability scripts to be used for JAWS screen reader testing.

My role as a Senior Compliance Analyst at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Information Resource Accessibility Program (IRAP) office was provided subject matter expertise for the Section 508 Programs Director, a technology stakeholder for Electronic Life Cycle (ELC) projects.

Responsibilities also included review of procurement technology contracts, Statements of Work (SOW), purchasing Task Orders (TO), and all other requisitions to ensure they capture Section 508, and to verify these contracts or deliverables to include clear Section 508 language as required by law.

Working directly with internal developers and project stakeholders, and external product vendors working with test scripts and conducted evaluations to determine Section 508 compliance. I analyzed design documents, reviewed interface mock-up, wireframes, and evaluated technical materials to provide informed recommendations to ensure products were Section 508 compliant.

I established and organized classifications for document inventory, ensuring their accessibility, or identifying for archive.

Web Developer, Designer/Section 508 Expert

At the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Information and Technology for the Office of the Director (OD) my role was to provide much needed Web-based technical and creative support for over 200 Web sites, maintain browser applications or business products for the Office of Director Institute. This included lifecycle development and team support for projects, and project assistance by gathering requirements to formulate new design and redesign projects. This included preparing technical wire-frames and working models in a customer-based iterative design process. Being proficient in print and w design, and HTML made me a valuable resource in document conversion for customers both creatively and technically between several different formats, to include HTML, Adobe PDF, Microsoft Office and SharePoint products, as well as many others, to accessibility standards.

I directly assisted the OD Section 508 Coordinator as an adviser to help make accessibility and compliance standards used throughout the Institute. This included policy documents that were instituted. I played a large part in drafting their OD Institutes’ Compliance and Remediation Plan. Other duties were as a Section 508 panel member of the NIH Section 508 Advisory Board, participating in a monthly meeting requirement to provide guidance throughout the agency institutes regarding Section 508 issues. For over a year I sat in as a member of the NIH Accessibility Accommodation Committee where when necessary accommodation approvals for E&IT were awarded were undue burden was determined.

I supported customer assignments as a Web or design consultant through agencies like BossStaffing, Inc., Vistec, Inc., and Aquent Partners. As a front-end designer, I worked direct assignments creating interactive testing tools, and have written support documents used to help evaluate talent, aptitudes and knowledge for specific skill-sets. My abilities in design and process development include extensive beta testing, documentation, and staff training.

Working with a predominance of U.S. Government clients, I was often tasked to adhere with existing agency accessibility standards, or provide advice and assistance towards meeting Section 508 guidelines. At their Justice Management Division (JMD), Web Development Section I worked as a with technical team of creative specialists where I utilized my expertise in layout and design to help train content managers to maintain Internet and Intranet interface templates through their CMS application with accessibility standards in mind.

Created print marketing materials for Meds Publishing utilizing QuarkXPress, Adobe PageMaker, Photoshop and Illustrator. Also I contributed to software strategies developing front-end interfaces for software applications and e-learning products using Macromedia Flash.

In a key role as an Illustrator I created original illustrations assets used in online educational curriculums at www.K-12.com. Conferring alongside instructional content designers I created original graphic that were made into instructional Adobe Acrobat PDF.

At Ruesch International’s Strategic Marketing department as a creative designer helped launch their redesigned website.
