Academic Projects

Capstone Industrial Design Project 2015 - 2016

v Task: Design an improved process of surgical clavicle plate bending during open reduction and internal fixation surgery for modifying bone-settling plates.

v Role: Conduct extensive research on the type of materials and features constituting the clavicle plate, design 2D and 3D models for 3D printing, and generate potential solutions by incorporating six sigma methodologies. v Outcome: By viewing the problem from a top-down approach and utilizing Six Sigma and Root Cause Analysis tools such as DMAIC and Fishbone Diagram, the team reduced bending time from an average of ~20 minutes to ~16 minutes. This is done by using stainless steel in place of the commonly used titanium plates, and ensuring that bending is carried out using rollers at room temperature on a pre-shaped plate to best suit patients' fractures. Computer-Aided Design & Manufacturing April 2015

v Task: Model and document a Vertical Stirling Engine and assemble part geometry using NX 9.0 as well as creating an NC fabricated tool path of the engine’s features. v Role: Design all individual components of the Stirling engine, join all parts to create the final assembly, and generate the NC tool path of the components’ features.

v Outcome: Utilize a practical and tangible product assembly to demonstrate the understanding of the CAD component and all downstream applications including NC part programming concepts. Awards and Public Interaction

v Member of the Engineering Intern (EIT) program under the terms of the Professional Engineers Act v Member of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers since March 2014 v Competed in the case study competition for UPS Supply Chain Solutions at the Institute of Industrial Engineers Waterloo conference in January 2016

v Awarded training certificate for the Ontario Building Code (OBC) Ministry Exam for Part 9 – Building Envelope in 2012

v Awarded certificate for completing Health, Safety, and Human Factors course
