FRED MEYER 11/2015 to 06/2016

I began as a produce clerk for the company, handling fresh product, conditioning and trimming various fruits and vegetables, refilling table displays and maintaining a presentable floor. The produce department is the first department the consumer notices when they walk through the doors, so a helpful attitude and superb social skills are a must for produce employees. After a few weeks of working in the produce department, management called me to fill in with the graveyard shift freight crew and I soon learned the ropes of shelve replenishment, how to operate heavy equipment and machinery as well as basic safety procedures to ensure the safety of my self and other employees. Time management is a huge component in working this shift due to the strict 8 hour allotted time to remove any expired product and replace them with the new. I quickly became an important asset to the store as my bosses began utilizing me in different departments within the food section of the store.

After freight, I became a dairy clerk (stocking and rotating perishable milk, egg, meat and cheese products), a grocery clerk (keeping up with shelves, making new displays and assisting customers with shopping and locating sought after items) and finally the meat/seafood and bakery department. Meat and Seafood required constant customer assistance, food preparations, cleanliness procedures, and proper closing and food storage procedures. The bakery trained me in how to take pastry orders, proper packaging and safe oven use.

- Working here, there were slow shifts and busy shifts but the real challenge came every Tuesday which held a BOGO sale followed by karaoke night, There was never a minute to dally and every employee had a full section all night. Only the quick and reliable servers were scheduled these nights and I was fortunate to become one of them.

- After a few months of getting my feet wet, my manager asked if I would take care of a large group of extremely picky regulars (30 plus people) the first Friday of every month. Upon completing that first shift of providing fast and genuine service (despite my mistakes and stress) the party praised my work ethic and requested me as their regular waitress (a huge accomplishment for myself as a server).
