To develop my health and safety career I self-funded and achieved NEBOSH General Certificate,

Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) and various other qualifications. I have had experience of being a health and Safety advisor and being an active safety representative, fully involved in assisting my employer in providing a safe work place. I have also completed two Apprentices: Welding/Fabrication (3 year apprenticeship) and Carpentry/Joinery (3 years apprenticeship). Overseeing a team of carpenters/joiners on the construction of a new £1.5M Environment Agency flood defence project in Glenridding, Cumbria. Planning work schedules, promoting health & safety regulations, implementing safety policies and procedures. Responsible for ensuring risk assessments, method statements and site inductions where implemented and monitored effectively. Briefed tool box talks and allocating day to day duties to the work force, monitoring performance and producing work to the required standards. Ordering and handling materials delivered to site dealing with members of the public, information, complaints and queries.

Co-ordinated the team for a project on the regeneration of a listed building in Whitehaven town centre (project cost is £2.5M.
