Mechanical Design Engineer

McLaughlin Body Company: Roll/Fall Over Protective Structure (ROPS/FOPS) and Cab body manufacturer for Caterpillar, Case, John Deere, and Komatsu - Moline, IL - September 2014 to July 2015.

Performed Computer Aided Engineering (CAE): detailed solid modeling, two dimensional (2D) drawings, assembly drawings, model-interference, model welds, model sealing, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in Creo Parametric 2.0/3.0. Evaluated final design for possible changes to enhance compatibility, functional performance, and manufacturability. Supported manufacturing at various stages of manufacturing process [starting from design to prototype up-to open production]. Managed new projects followed APQP and Led a team of engineers, communicated with customers by travelling to location/s, conference calls, phone calls, and e-mails.

Overseeing CNH (Case New Holland) and CAT (Caterpillar) products for Operator Enclosures at McLaughlin. I was in charge of completing APQP (Advance Product Quality Planning) outputs, conducting design reviews, change orders and providing cost estimates. My role was heavily integrated with another New Product Introduction Groups such as quality, Materials, Purchasing, Scheduling and Manufacturing. I was responsible for the overall success of the program, lead-time, and resolving conflicts to promote design for manufacturing. Processed ECOs (Engineering Work Orders), including implementation, EPICOR (Enterprise Resource Planning) updates, red line drawings, model updates, obsolescence inventory recommendations, tooling changes, process updates and bill of material corrections.

Remotely Controlled(RC) Aircraft Design

Designed, built, and tested a propeller driven Remotely Controlled (RC) aircraft. Led a team of 4 people. Air foil analysis, finite wing, and static pitch stability of main wing/tail surfaces assembly using XFLR5 software and MATLAB. Performed CAE: conceptual design, solid modeling, and 2D drawings in Autodesk Inventor. Laser cutting detailed 2D drawings from balsa sheets and plywood materials. Aircraft construction and parts assembly including the payload. Flight test and evaluate the predicted flight characteristics.
