I strive for building scalable & efficient structure & processes, comfortable working with hosted, local & virtual structures. I like owning a problem from start to finish, going at it solo & work equally well in small teams.

I.Argaam: IT Infrastructure Deployment – Migration to new head office

On first day I was assigned overseeing office renovation to accommodate company growth, Plan, design & implement network infrastructure to new premises, from wall jacks & cables to RFQs & purchases to deploying Windows servers suit:

- LAN + WLAN infrastructure, Domain Controller + DNS + WSUS

- Forefront Threat Management Gateway (ISA 2010)

- Secure and migrate user accounts and computers into new domain controller.

- Purchase configuration and installation of Servers, Switches, and Access Points, secure & migrate User accounts and PCs into the new domain.

II.RM Global Services: Branch Office Merger

Management decided to merge branch into head office, as directed by IT manager we were to supervise transition and migrate user accounts into HQ environment.

- Supervise new space renovation, cable works and new data closet.

- Migrate 50+ user accounts from local users to our corporate domain.

- Configure Single sign on & Fingerprint IDs for branch workers.

- Enforce IT policy and train users to use ticketing system for better documentation.

III.RM Global Services: Bandwidth Optimization

-Throughout 3 months I customized our firewall to minimize non-working traffic through our network increasing end user productivity and improve bandwidth management and recover from a major infrastructure incident costing us 66 % loss of our total bandwidth for over 6 months, reducing entertainment surfing modifier from 16% to 4% in 6 months.

-I’ve put significant effort and long hours of testing and monitoring into enhancing user experience and developing proper corporate use of technology environment, dropping down “entertainment web access” modifiers from 15.52% to 4.93% while maintaining flexibility for users eligible for exceptions in liaise with their respective team leads.

IV.RM Global Services: Data Center Virtualization

As the RMGS virtual resource needs expanded, a more budget-friendly approach was suggested to better manage and control our server instances.

- Plan, design & implement OpenStack Private cloud solution.

- Upgrade servers, purchase hardware to accommodate infrastructure needs.

- Redesign & customize Data Center closet and sort out cable mesh issues, install new electric equipment & configure power-failure recovery.

- Document all deployment steps and with explanation of all networking / routing configuration and debugging / troubleshooting encountered during implementation simple enough for IT Support to understand, citing all technical sources.

- Stress-test and secure the Cloud network and discuss various Network topologies to decide which is best, finally deciding on limiting public access to be allowed only through VPN, which we had to configure & implement.

V.RM Global services: Securing hosted AWS servers

I was assigned securing our Windows & Linux business-critical hosted servers while minimizing downtime following a seamless approach.

- Reconfigure AWS firewall to whitelist access to protocols & ports to certain networks, while blacklisting and reported abusive IPs and locals.

- Performing Backups every step of the way to retract steps if need be.

- Installing 3rd party Open-Source / free software to secure Ubuntu / CentOS instances such as (Snort IDS – Fail2Ban – IPSet / IPTables – VoIPBL – IPAbuseDB)
