Legacy Products

Managed engineering new model introductions, cost and quality improvements for 5 platforms with 800K+ annual production. Led 105-member team that provided engineering support for $971M in sales.

- Embedded Lean Product Design processes for $1.3M budget that improved project timing and lab yield to over 80%, reducing lab load.

- Approved 2 mega projects and 150+ running changes, while preventing 300+ running changes that were detrimental to product or consumer.

PROJECT ENGINEER, Systems Team, BM Products, Maytag Appliances 2002 - 2006

Designed and led teams that designed and implemented all cooling system and ice production aspects of BM refrigerators. Supported line-side production and end-of line testing.

- Led Systems Team that was first to market Ice and Water dispensing Bottom ‘Iceland’. Granted 14 collaborative patents for temperature control, water system, air impingement, control software, and Ice dispensing. Currently largest production volume in Whirlpool.

- Utilized simulation-based design and forced failure analysis in development of High-Voltage Electronic (HVE) control box design. Leveraged cost-effective and assembly-friendly design to all new Ice and Water dispensing Bottom Mount and Side by Side Whirlpool refrigerators world-wide.

ENGINEER, SENIOR ENGINEER, SYSTEMS ENGINEER, BM Products, Amana Refrigeration 1993 - 2001

Owned all design and line support for BM cooling, sealed system, controls, and wiring for Amana Refrigeration under Raytheon and Goodman Holding Inc, LLC

- Maintained Amana’s market dominance and started the sales growth of the BM configuration by designing, tooling, and launching 14-month ‘Wildcat’ platform project achieving all cost, quality, and performance goals.

- Designed, tooled, and launched ‘Alien’ with 4 BM cabinet sizes. Completed facility changeover, coordinated production start on 2 production lines in 3-month window, resulting in 10% part count reduction, over 7M sold, and serves as basis for current BM market.

- Granted patent US6772606 for Plastic Fan Shroud design. Design provided simple snap together poke yoke assembly with reduced sound from blade pass and structural vibration transmission, while keeping fan blade centered in the orifice. Over 2M Whirlpool products built annually utilizing the robust cost effective design.

- Granted patent US20060201189 for conceptual work on Ice and Water Dispensing Bottom Mount. Patent summarized 18 months of research, providing basis for first in industry. Patent has been referenced in 46 patent applications and was included in litigation with LG and Samsung for patent infringement.
