ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Mechanical engineering capstone course: Designed and built a prototype of a tool that sorts Legos by color. Gained knowledge of gearmotors, stepper motors, conveyer belts and control systems. Inventor was used during the design process. For the prototype parts, machining techniques and 3D printers were used. Parts were also ordered from McMaster-Carr.

Project Development: Helped build a dynamometer. This device was designed to measure the torque, force and power output of a motor to determine its efficiency. The project required the designing of many mechanical components for which Inventor was used. For the tool to work properly the assembly had to be toleranced to one thousandth of an inch.

Fracture Mechanics Project: Studied an actual product on the market that received poor reviews to determine what caused it to fail. FEA was used to determine the cause and location of failure. Then provide a viable solution to the problem.
