Optra is a contract engineering, and SBIR/OEM optical sensor manufacturer serving commercial and military markets.

Technician

Laser & Optical alignment-entails the use of computers and diagnostic equipment to precisely align & perform final test procedures on the optical-mechanical assemblies. Solder/installs printed circuit boards on optical-mechanical assembles and performs electronic tuning and pre-testing of finished assemblies. Using epoxy/ potting beam splitters into JSLSCAD.

Using a variety of hand tools, fixturing, and alignment equipment, assembled all products in the Optra catalog following ISO 9001:2000 compliant processes.

Products typically integrated tightly toleranced mechanical components, custom optical components, and electronic control systems. Assembly was completed in a clean manufacturing environment with stringent ESD controls.

Due to in-process test and measurement requirements, assembly operations required the use of equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, digital volt meters, and computers throughout the process.

Inspection of incoming mechanical component parts was completed using a variety of measuring tools such as optical comparator, calipers, micrometers. Electrical and optical components were inspected using equipment such as optical power meters, cameras, and dedicated software applications.

Tested completed systems to assure performance to specification across a wide temperature range. Logged test data as needed to meet quality record requirements.

Performed thru-hole, and SMT printed circuit board assembly.

Worked independently with Engineering to develop best practices for assembly of prototype electrical, mechanical, and optical sub-assemblies.

Contributed to troubleshooting of non-compliant materials and systems.
