PROJECT PROFILE
Ph.D. Project: Understanding the anticancer activity of the bacoside fraction from Bacopa monnieri by in vitro and in silico approaches
A saponin (baciside fraction) was isolated from the herb Bacopa monnieri and its anticancer effect was seen in oral cancer cell line.
Isolation and molecular characterization of avian influenza virus from layers
Avian influenza virus was isolated from the diseased layers and confirmed by haemagglutination inhibition test, agar gel precipitation test and by reverse transcriptase PCR.
(The project was done under the guidance of Dr. P. Sugumar in the Department of Microbiology, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal)
Effect of Rhizobium and Azorhizobium on leguminous plants (major project in UG)
The parameters of the Vigna radiata were measured after the treatment with Biofertilizers (Rhizobium and Azorhizobium) and it was found that all the parameters were increased after the Biofertilizer treatment.
Effect of Rhizobium and Azorhizobium on plants (mini project in UG)
The effect of biofertilizers on both leguminous and non leguminous plants were analyzed and a brief review was prepared.

Attended Summer Training on Clinical Biochemistry at Hariharan Laboratory, P.N.Hospital, Namakkal (May 2006) and obtained hands on training in the same field.
Attended Summer Training on recombinant DNA technology at Sreedhar Bhatt’s Laboratories, Bangalore (May 2007), and obtained hands-on-experience in the same field.
Underwent Summer training on Bioinformatics for Biologists at Helix info systems, Chennai for a period of one month (June 2009) and obtained experience on online tools, Homology modeling and Docking .
