Duties and Responsibilities:
MRI TECHNICIAN:
Ensure the safety of the patients, staff and visitors who come in contact with the powerful magnetic field of a MRI scanner.
Performs MRI examinations according to agreed policies and procedures.
Performs special MRI procedures.
Undertakes training in special MRI procedures as required by the department.
Participates in the departmental schedules to include working single-handed on call outside normal working hours.
Organize daily workload, check in and screen patients, verify lab work, communicate with RN's regarding patients, coordinate with radiologist on scanning protocols and assist clinicians with procedures.
Utilize a clinical GE MR Optima 450 W 1.5T MRI machine, transfer
images to PACS.
Inject contrast media under the guidance of radiologist.
Set appropriate technical parameters, operate MRI scanners and related equipment, and observe image data on computer monitors during scans.
Guide and monitor patients during scans that may take up to 90 minutes to complete.
Scope of responsibility includes patient safety, staff training and equipment stocking and maintenance.
