SUMMARY

Process Engineer with ** years’ experience in chemical process simulation, P&ID development, equipment and piping design, sizing and selection in engineering consulting companies. Experience includes 12 years experience in North American. Project experience includes oil-sands, refinery, petrochemicals, chemicals and gas processing. Responsible for the preparation of design basis, process design criteria, process simulation, P&ID development, process calculations for equipment, hydraulic calculations and PSV sizing. Duties also include preparing basic datasheets for equipment and rotary machine, prepare instrument datasheets, operation manual write-up. Strong skills in using computer tools in process simulation, heat exchanger design, proficient in using HYSYS, FLARENET, EDR and HTRI and basic knowledge of ASPEN Plus and PRO II.

Vale – Vale Kronau Project (3,500,000 T/year Potash) Process area lead responsible for the dry side of potash production area which includes product compaction, granular and standard product production, and product load out. Main tasks include creating H&MB, PFDs and P&IDs, process design criteria and process operating and control philosophy write-up for the responsible areas, attending HAZOP, checking calculations and equipment datasheets etc.

Shell Canada Energy – Heavy Oil Offgas Processing (HOOP) Project, Process engineer involving scouting study phase. Work includes: performing simulation by using HYSYS to process offgas and/or natural gas streams into higher value products for a variety of concepts; performing preliminary equipment sizing and checking for shell & tube exchangers, air coolers, separators and columns.

Shell Canada Energy – Replace Sulphuric Acid Tote Project, Process lead for execute phases. Work includes: Sulphuric acid storage tank and PSV sizing; performing hydraulics for line sizing. prepare LDTs, tank, PSV and instrument data sheets; issuing P&IDs for IFC.

Work includes: Performing hydraulics for the two air driven pump systems, the required air capacity and condition for pressure regulator sizing; preparing LDTs, mechanical and instrument data sheets, issuing P&IDs for IFC.

Shell Canada Products – Shell Refinery TK-7101 Replacement Project, Process lead for select, define and execute phases. Work includes: tank vent and nitrogen blanket sizing; tank heating-coils duty sizing; RV relief load and area sizing; preparing LDTs, mechanical and instrument data sheets, issuing P&IDs for IFD/IFC; involving in BDEP write-up and HAZOP review.

Shell Canada Energy, Scotford Upgrader Expansion 1 – Shell Debottlenecking Stage 1, Phase 2, Process area lead for detailed phases. Duties include: performing hydraulic for pumps, control valves and line sizing; RV relief load and area sizing; creating LDTs, mechanical and instrument data sheets, issuing P&IDs for IFD/IFC, thermal evaluation for existing heat-exchanger. Involving in HAZOP and SILA review; man hour estimation, status report and progress report during project.

Imperial Oil Resources Ventures Limited, Alberta, Canada – Aurora Tailings Management, Process sub-lead for detailed phases. Duties include slurry pumps and line sizing, air blower system design and P&ID management in the project.

Suncor, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada – 51F-1 BMS Upgrades. Process Lead for Study, FEED and detailed phases. Work includes performing fuel gas and air consumption calculation, fuel gas control valve sizing and LDT calculation. Involving HAZOP and LOPA analysis. Creating instruments data sheets. Updating P&IDs and LDTs and issuing P&IDS for IFR/IFA/IFH.

Suncor, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada – Cu&Ag Inhibitor Pump Control Improvements. Process engineer involved in detailed phase only. Work includes performing pump hydraulic calculation, PSV sizing and LDT calculation. Creating pump and instrument data sheets. Updating P&IDs and LDTs and issuing P&IDS for IFR/IFA/IFD/IFC.

Suncor, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada – Sour Water and Gas Sample Stations. Process Lead for both FEED and detailed phases. Work includes creating and updating P&IDs and LDTs and issuing P&IDS for IFR/IFA/IFD/IFC.

Suncor, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada – LDT As-built Project. Process Lead responsible for performing LDT calculation for the existing lines which have either design or testing pressure issues identified by clients. Work includes identifying the operating and upset P&T of the existing system and modifying the existing LDTs.

Suncor, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada – Conventional And Syncrude Flare System Modification. Process Lead responsible for modifying both existing conventional and Syncrude flare system by using FLARENET. Work includes creating flare system PSV relief load summary tables for use in the simulation; modifying the PSV and piping information in the model which includs PSV relief load, orifice size, piping length and size from isometrics. Creating PSV back-up pressure tables from the simulation results.

Suncor, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada – 51G-10A/B Pump Safety Upgrades. Process Lead for both FEED and detailed phase. Work includes creating and updating P&IDs and LDTs, issuing P&IDS for IFR/IFA/IFD/IFC and FEED document write up.

Suncor, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada – Sour Flare Lift Gas Improvements. Process Lead for detailed phase. Work includes updating and issuing P&IDS for IFA/IFD/IFC and Performing PSV and PCV calculations.

Suncor Edmonton Refinery, Alberta, Canada – Butamer Unit Optimization Study. Process Lead responsible for performing process simulation of Butamer unit, evaluating existing heat exchangers, separators, performing hydraulics of Butamer feed pumps, providing equipment modification recommendations for the new operation conditions, project study report and simulation report write-up.

Corefco, Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada – Plant Expansion Phase 2. Area A Process Lead responsible for the Ammonia Leach, Wash and Tailings, Nickel / Copper Boil, Ammonia Recovery and Feed Handling Phase 2 design. Main tasks include schedule updating, manhour estimating, performing hydraulic calculation, process simulation, PSV sizing, P&ID development and calculation checking.

Suncor Energy, Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada – Steepbank Extraction Plant (Bitumen Production 152,000 BPCD). Process Specialist involving in the Steepbank Extraction Plant project from DBM to EP phase. Work includes designing and sizing the SepCell and secondary flotation cells underflow system, secondary flotation cells overflow system, deaerator froth pump and froth transfer pump system. Carrying out hot and cold water system mass balance calculation, hot water system, sparger water system and gland seal water system hydraulic calculation. Preparing instrument datasheets, P&IDs and LTDs based on calculation. Checking the calculations of the SepCell overflow and middlings, final tailings system, MFT transfer system and cold water system hydraulics which include both Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids.

Process Specialist, SNC Lavalin, Edmonton, AB, Canada

Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, Anchorage, Alaska, USA – Pump Station Electrification and Control System Automation (1.0 MMBPD). Process Specialist responsible for five-pump stations design in Alyeska Pipeline project with other process engineers. Duties include preparing process line sizing, conditions tables, (LPCT) and line designation tables (LDT) for all five pump stations, performing pump warm up facilities study, orifices calculation, piping hydraulic calculations and heat loss calculations, preparing instrument data sheets including PSV, control valve, flow meter, pressure, temperature and liquid level. Preparing demolition report of the process parts to be out of service.

Chemical Process Engineer, China Tianchen Chemical Engineering Corporation, Tianjin, China

Mobil Petroleum (Tianjin), Tianjin, China – Lube Oil Manufacture (Lube Oil 47,700 T / Year, Grease 4,770 T / Year). Process Engineer responsible for carrying out the whole plant hydraulic calculation and pump NPSH calculation and selection by using self-programmed software. Work includes creating pump data sheets, equipment data sheets, instrumentation data sheets, equipment lists and line lists. Designing the manifold piping system which transfers base oils and additives from the cargo ship to the tank farm. Developing and updating P&IDs and UFDs, performing piping system TRV, equipment venting system sizing by using API RP 520 and API 2000.

Tianjin United Chemical Corporation, Tianjin, China – Ethylene 140,000 T/Year, EG 42,000 T/Year, EO 55,000 T/Year. Process Engineer responsible for EO and EG units design with other process engineers. Duties include performing equipment and piping design and sizing, P&IDs updating and revising, heat exchangers rechecking by using HTFS, providing process information to other disciplines used in design.

Tianjin Dongli Welfare Chemical Plant, Tianjin, China – Sodium Ethylate (10,000 T/Year). Process Engineer responsible for the plant design from basic design, detailed engineering design to plant commissioning. Duties including creating and developing the P&IDs, performing mass and heat balance calculation by using ASPEN plus, equipment sizing which includes a three phase azeotropic distillation tower and a two phase separator, creating data sheets for pumps, equipment and instrumentation, preparing equipment lists and line lists. Overseeing the construction and solving the problems related to the process aspects at the site, and successfully assisting the project manger and clients for plant start up and commissioning.

Shell Oil, Tianjin, China – Bitumen Project (180,000 T/Year). Process Engineer responsible for utilities system design which includes designing and sizing instrument and utility air system, hot oil system which is used for process piping heat-tracing. Duties also include the entire plant heat exchangers sizing by using HTFS.

Quzhou Chemical Company, Zhejiang, China – Cyclohexanone (10,000 T/Year). Unit Lead responsible for designing the cyclohexanone distillation unit which contains six distillation towers. Work includes process simulation by using ASPEN plus, P&IDs development and distillation towers design.

Fujian Chemical Fiber Plant, Fujian, China – Vinyl Acetate Revamping Project (15,000 T/Year). Process lead responsible for creating and developing the P&IDs, and performing equipment design and sizing. In design of the key equipment which is the acetylene absorbed tower used to separate acetylene from synthetic gases, the operating range of the absorbed tower is greatly improved by upgrading the trays to the floating valve trays.
