Major Responsibilities

1. Plans, organizes and controls required activities with on-site client representative(s) for plant, construction and well operations. Instruction of the personnel concerning to the protection due to the presence of H2S and CH4 gases at the the-job-site (atmosphere) while performing the “frac” job at the well PLA-19 and PLA-20.

During the development of the job many risks were involved due to the fact of the different operations that were taking place, such as lifting rig-up and rig-down of equipment, crane ops. As well as forklift ops, H2S presence (we worked at about 200 ppm of concentration), detection and protection with the breathing apparatus were needed in order to comply with HSE Policies and Preventive Measures according with Company Standards.

Implement and monitor the Company PTW System. Responsible of the Pre-job meetings including PTW. Ensure the PTW experiences are displayed throughout all the organization. Responsible of the inclusion of the PTW System in the new employee orientation as per Company Policy.

Concerning HSE, all the techniques and principles were also in place and I was the responsible person to develop such system.

Responsible to lead the different JSA and PTW Systems used as pro-actives tools as part of the Risk Assessment at the site.

Being the focal point for the PTW System and JSA, PTW Meetings taking place in a daily basis so as to be in place every day throughout all the operations (taking into consideration SIMOPS). Auditing together with an operation team the whole system and implement recommendations/corrections.

Participate in the development and execution of the Commissioning Plan and resolution of before start-up action items, participate in and witness commissioning activities.

Support different Managers in the critical procedures and recommend appropriate control measures.

As part of the project ensure compliance with the Commissioning standard so as to achieve a safe and effective transition of assets from the construction, installation, or major repair phase to owner custody while ensuring that benefits of the design objectives and expectations are achieved for the company.

It is important to notice that during this project the statistical figures of administration as for severity were not affected, that is to say, there were no cases of lost time incidents, they only registered illnesses and cases of first aids. The Line Management of the Operator (Chevron) and the Contractor’s (Flag Instalaciones) had a real HSE commitment in order to achieve the goals and objectives programmed, showing a high level of HSE awareness from the top level of the Management to the workers at low levels. As Safety Technician, he observes and advises Management, supporting the Company to gain and share experience from operations that may assist in making the workplace a safer environment, which is the goal of the company as stated in Corporate Safety Policy.
