Experience
Mechanical Engineering Dept. – Northeastern University, Boston, MA February 2016 – Present
Research Assistant – Contact Mechanics
Developing a model for the elastic contact and adhesion of elastic metals with rough surfaces.
The new numerical model uses analysis and computer software such as Matlab.
Future simulation of the model will be performed using Ansys to validate the theory and Solidworks will be used to construct a CAD model.
Abu Qir Petroleum, Alexandria, Egypt November 2006 – October 2012
Mechanical Engineer
Served as the on-site technician leader providing directions and support to maintenance technicians on variety of mechanical equipment such as water treatment units, generators, compressors, pumps,.
Lead multiple large-scale projects as PM, defining project scope, managing project budgets, schedules, as well as the change control process owner.
Single point of contact for vendors, which included reviewing mechanical equipment and piping selection, approving technical designs, BOM, P & ID.
Commissioning, qualification, validation engineer on multiple mechanical equipment at offshore platforms.
Global SantaFe – Egypt August 2006 – November 2006
Junior Mechanical Engineer
Performed operation & maintenance of generators, compressors and pumps on offshore rig.
Education
Northeastern University, Boston, MA
M.Sc. Mechanical Engineering, GPA: 3.62 January 2016
Coursework:
Dynamics & Vibrations, Finite Element Analysis, Fracture Mechanics, Elasticity & Plasticity
Thesis Focus: Adhesive Elastic contact of elastic solids
Developed a new numerical adhesion model of more complex axisymmetric elastic bodies.
Existing adhesion models could only solve simple geometries by approximations, which lead to far from accurate results when used to solve more complex geometries.
The new developed model showed significant differences in calculated pull-off forces and interferences vs. existing JKR, Maugis and Zheng Models.
In addition the new model can be used as a transition between the existing models.
Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt
B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering June 2005
Capstone Project: Data acquisition system for internal combustion engine
Designed a test rig for a four-stroke gasoline engine and constructed a 2D CAD model using Autocad.
Developed data reduction code using Visual Basic.NET to experimentally evaluate engine efficiency.
Conducted performance tests simulating various operating conditions.
Analyzed and validated experimental results with available data in literature.
Skills
Software: SolidWorks, Ansys, Microsoft Office, Computerized maintenance management system.
Language: English, French, German, Arabic.
